The Raceseng shift knob and reverse lock out came yesterday. Install started yesterday and finished today. One important key piece of information that I did not see anywhere. The pin that attaches the reverse lock out is a roll pin. I used a punch that was a little too small and it jammed into the roll pin. That made removing the pin impossible as now the diameter of the pin was larger. Long story short a lot of cutting etc later I had to remove the shifter to remove the pin. Once I finally got the pin out the install went smoothly. That is after reinstalling the shifter and center console. During shifter removal I had a major issue with the rubber boot covering the shift rod to shifter connection. As many others have had. I just ripped the damned thing out. I am sure the boot was there for a reason but I am now bootless. Time will tell if that boot is really that important. After all said and done my review mirrors all others here. Great size great feel less notchiness. And it looks great too

Tomei duracon knob, 60mm

Very light, so you can feel everything in the syncro and gear mesh. It's the shape I wanted and it was only 30 bucks. I love it.

Am I seeing correctly that it works with the reverse lockout to hide the ugly part?

Auto has different thread IIRC. So AT will need different knobs or knobs with exchangeable threaded insert. But why would one change one "for feel" on AT, if most using flappy gear switch pads on steering wheel anyway?

Semi-custom acrylic knob from twisted shifterz. Wanted something that didn't have any thermal characteristics, and was as low profile as possible.

Ryan Tuerck

This is my shift knob. I just bought my FR-S last month and this was the one it came in.

I really like the color scheme and liked it even more when I found it was a colloaboration between Mishimoto and Ryan Tuerck. Although mine is faded and it is now discontinued.

How do you know what gear you're on when you no longer have the shift pattern on the knob? I would be so confused.

Most people pop off the shifter, and do that "tightening" with a zip tie under the shift boot. Just a tip. I believe Raceeng does this to ensure the stretching doesn't make the boot loose.

When I first learned manual, I had to move the car without touching the gas (finding the catch point) and memorizing all positions of the shifter. I grew up wanting a manual so I also fake-practice on a soda bottle
