machine work for forged rods with stock pistons?
in the middle of a build and heard a rumor that you need to machine down aftermarket rods to mate with the stock pistons. can anyone confirm or deny this?

The best bet is to start by checking with the manufacture of the rods yeah.

yes. every rods in the aftermarket not fit to stock piston.
you should machine rod's small end or you can ask to manufacturer to make rods for stock pistons. LT one is OE rod for zn6 , Rt one is aftermarket (skunk2)

Hi,
You already read my post. Didn't you? I've asked to Skunk and they replied do it if you want to use stock pistons. Quote:

If you are building why don't you just get pistons too? This doesn't answer your question but it seems logical to me

yes you need to machine 90% of the rods on the aftermarket to fit the stock piston
for some reason the aftermarket designs have yet to catch up with the oem trend of a thinner top strap |

If you are looking to build a high comp engine, JE does offer pistons the will support aftermarket rods. The pistons are cheap. The factory ring landings look tiny and to thin push high amounts of hp. If you going to replace things don't take corners.
They offer 9.5:1 & 10.5:1 & 13.5:1 standard bore. https://www.jepistons.com/Catalogs/S...baru/fa20.aspx

Some thread necromancy here...
I was also wondering about this. I was thinking of getting forged rods that fit stock pistons so I can keep the 12.5:1 comp ratio for some time and go FI in the future. Plus I also read that NA engines have had bending con rods since the stock rods are cheaply mass produced.
