CVTs have their advantages - more fuel efficiency, and generally able to keep the engine in the powerband since it essentially has infinite gear ratios.
The problem is, if efficient and fast were the be-all and end-all of the driving experience, we would not have people still opting for the manual transmissions.

That's why CVTs are becoming more prevalent in econoboxes and cars/CUVs designed for those who think driving is a chore, and simply want to keep costs down as they go from point A to point B.

This is also why many "enthusiasts" view the CVT with contempt (and why so many feel the new WRX is a step in the wrong direction)

Nissan needs to:
1) slightly update the styling of the S15 to meet current crash regulations
2) drop in the 1.8l turbo 4cyl from the Nismo Sentra Concept (240hp-240lb/ft TQ)
3) price around 25-30k depending on options
4) Profit

The performance of the CVT is worse than other available transmission options for many car models right now. The Mitsubishi Lancer/Evo is one such example off of the top of my head.

The iDX concept car to me looks like it's design is trying too hard to have the retro look. It's a mix between classic Japanese styling and modern aggressive sports car, which to me, don't go hand in hand. Even so I'm still excited to see the production model!

The thing with Nissan and Honda is that they think the American is Filthy Rich! They rather bring some car that Cost over 120k to the States than the Hot selling cheaper car as in GTR, NSX vs Civic R, S15

I think its a good competitor for drift people if its rear wheel drive but a race or circuit car I don't think this baby can handle it, too much drag in the design unless its redesigned in the actual production model. Who can tell at this early stage.

Maybe if it were all one color, I think the puke biege and white combo is a poor choice. It might look a lot better black or black and silver.

I always just assumed Nissan fans liked ugly cars...look at Cube, Leaf, Juke...they have quite a few on the ugliest cars of all time list, what's one more.

I want that Silvia. Ever since I saw it in GT5. Just looking at it evokes emotion. Keep the total retro look grill it has. I would trade my car for an old one too.
That blue thing next to it? No!

^I think it would look better if they lose the rear doors and make it a real coupe.

The best market now is Crossover Utility Sport, and Sport hatch back. Every one can use one.

Have you seen one from Nissan ? Their Murano suck....Rouge...Puke...all suck.

Toyota have RX, RAV4, incomming enthusiast NX....Audi Q5...BM X...whatever.

Nissan need to save the brand first before a hobby like another coupe production. Toyota is stronger than ever, so a hobby production is nothing.

I am eager to see new Supra, but I doubt it cN have the price and performance of the Corvette C7
350Z was a hit, the 370Z is a flop.

Not saying the Z or GTR are bad cars, but they absolutely don't measure up in terms of looks. The IDX especially is a complete turd in comparison. I don't understand why car manufacturers these days can't make sleek, sexy, classically beautiful cars. Everything is just bulbous, chunky, and akward.
A freakin Men. If Nissan came out with an S16 styled and performed like the s15 today, I would trade in my BRZ tommorow.
