Header and full exhaust dilemma

Past couple of days I have been looking through the header and over pipe sticky and doing my research for which header to pick up, and what over pipe/front pipe combo to future compliment my header choice and current cat-back.

My cat-back is the GReddy EVO GT (not actually installed yet, ordered a month ago so still waiting on that to arrive) This thing has 3inch piping so would I have to also get 3inch piping for the rest of the system? Also on my search, I saw that the GReddy header was announced 2 years ago and there's still no follow up for it. Pretty much the setup I had in mind.

Things to consider:

- I'm using an automatic transmission
- Prefer to have cats/resonators
- Prefer deep low tones over loudness
- UEL vs EL?
- Stick to 1 brand for header to cat-back?
- Not looking to spend more than a grand on headers with conversion and shipping
- Also have an OFT

I believe Greddy has a JDM header which is not available in the US.

I guess I should answer more of your questions:

I don't think your Auto transmission is a factor in this conversation.
Cats / resonators are good to keep drone and noise down.
UEL has a rumble, EL does not. This is a personal preference type question you need to ask yourself.
Do not need to stick with one brand as long as they aren't eBay knock off parts. All quality parts from reputable brands should fit together fine.
Tomei makes a good bang for your buck header in either EL or UEL format.

spend the money on a good header... get the larger OEM tips for the rear exhaust to fill the holes and you are good to go!

With an AT you have to watch out for FP fitment issues. Some FP will not fit the AT since the trans sticks out a bit compared to MT. I do know that the HKS Duel Resonated FP WILL fit the AT.

Thanks everyone for input, I've been tiptoeing around the Tomei UEL header, but I don't recall them having a catted version? I still need to research some of catted headers to see if it makes a big difference on sound levels. Will be keeping stock OP/FP for now also.

Tomei does not make a catted version of their header(s). The cat in the header will make a difference in reducing the overall volume of your exhaust at the cost of some performance and costing more than going catless.

3" is only going to be so quiet, and the timing at WOT seems to make it worse. Two cats and as many resonators will help...

JDL may order three best performance in a catted header.

Nameless may be the only 3" exit. I have one with the ultra quiet JDL 3" OP and catback/dual tip and its pretty deep, but brash at WOT. Comfortably loud, upper edge of acceptable for me but I'm not after noise...

I'm running FT86SpeedFactory's Catted UEL header, stock OP, Motiv catted FP, and the Greddy Supreme Sp catback. Has a nice deep rumble but not too loud. In cabin noise is very quiet. Can barely tell I have an exhaust when I am just cruising.

Greddy EVO GT with Open flash header. Great low end power and noise isn't over the top. Pretty loud in the cab WOT but no issues with everyday cruising, I get a lot of compliments on the setup. Went with it because I got a good deal on a used one, won't keep it long as I plan to boost within the year. Matches with the OFT great on an e85 tune as well

Borla UEL, Motive OP, Invidia catted FP, Invidia N1 Ti

Startup is pretty loud, but once at proper idle, completely bearable. Very low rumble.

Cruise is fairly drone-y if you have to get on the throttle, but otherwise on flat highway, doable.

Can't link a video right now but google Borla UEL and Invidia N1. Should be a white 86 from the back. Sounds exactly like mine.
@cameronjones239, Nice to see another Series.Blue in Missouri, and with that Nurspec Spoiler. Where'd you get that btw, Alibaba?

Where are you located? I haven't seen another one yet. Nah, I tried alibaba and they quoted me 700 shipped, then emailed me back and told me it was another 700 for shipping + they had to order it and would take a few months. Had a buddy in Asia get ahold of it for me and shipped it over with PayPal. I tried getting more shipped over to sell but I haven't heard back from him in awhile so idk what the deal is
