If you want a good hobby grade RC FRS/BRZ...look for Tamiya. They make both a FRS and a BRZ. I believe the body is clear so you can paint it any color you want to match.

And worth much more than the added expense. First you get a much better quality product, when it breaks you can get parts for it, like the twins there are a lot of after market parts for the chassis, and if it isn't fast enough you can upgrade the motor.

Yes and no. Yes it's a better quality product and much more moddable, but for indoor household use it's arguably worthless. I have a decent amount of experience from my youth racing stadium trucks, buggies, and then went to carpet-track indoor racing, so I know how much fun they can be. But put one in a 20x12 room full of furniture and stuff and see how much fun you actually can't have with it. And kids are stupid. I had two expensive cars get run over because we were being dumb and racing in the street.. costly lesson to learn.

and dammit now I'm looking at the HPI, Losi, and Associated sites going "hmmm, I want one of those..."

That is largely true...though if you stick with a Mabuchi motor in it they tend to run fine indoors. Better than smaller cars on thick carpet.

I'm big into RC myself...am a race director for a local on-road race, have my own hobby shop side business, and used to do reviews for one of the national RC mags. Can't wait to go to the IIC race in Vegas this year I've seen many people get back into the hobby after looking at something like this and remembering how much fun they had in the past. Personally I'm split on this...I want a RC car modeled after my real car since finally I own a real car cool enough to have an RC version...but I'm a pan car racer and don't particularly like touring car chassis. But the Tamiya FR-S body doesn't fit on a pan car chassis properly. I can't see myself buying the FR-S kit because I don't typically buy a RC car that I'll never use...I realized a while ago that I'm a racer, not a collector. But at the same time I really want one lol
