In the April 2014 fast track the board suggested that they are going to legalize for ST* classes for 2015...we'll see.

Edit:// Dont want to sound like Ive got some inside information, just going by how Im reading the comments in fast track

Street Touring
#12449 Oil Cooler Allowance Proposal
Add the following to 14.10.A :
"Engine oil, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid coolers may be added or substituted (including oil to coolant heat exchangers) but may not serve any additional purpose."
Note: Based on member feedback the STAC is proposing adding an allowance for oil coolers. Many street touring cars are also driven at track events. The intent of this allowance is to allow common reliability modifications that offer no performance advantage. In addition to feedback on oil coolers the STAC would like specific feedback on transmission fluid coolers. Many new performance vehicles are being sold with two pedals, and as such transmission fluid coolers may become more commonplace.

yeah we should know about the Oil coolers in the next FastTrack... as for Tires..depends on conditions, type of surface and if its being run as a single driver or Co-driven.. I have Dunlop Z2's, Hankook RS3 Ver2, and Federal RSR 595.. so with varying conditions it could be either one..

Can you comment on the Federal's vs 'Kooks? My Z1 star specs (yeah, ancient) are about history and I'm trying to decide between those two. Probably going with the kooks, but I could be convinced otherwise.

What is your Primary surface... the Federals like Asphalt.. and ambient temps below 75.. if the core temp gets to 120ish.. they start getting greasy.. the Hankooks.. like Concrete. ..They do ok on Asphalt.. and they LOVE heat..

Kooks it is. Mostly asphalt around here, but NC is hot and im too lazy to spray tires. Also run them at hpde's so they need to like hot. Thanks for the feedback!

Good info. I was hoping to run the Feds but seems like I am in too hot a climate. I run local events only all on asphalt, but we get summer temps of at least 90. How do the ZII handle asphalt and heat?

The Z2's are a great catch all. and folks have done very well on them on both concrete and Asphalt.. they wear well, but need to be watered down in extreme heat.. at the the last Local .. Ambient temp was 77.. Asphalt was around 95 and people were watering them down. I was doing the same with Federals.. then switched to the Kooks in the afternoon and put tire blankets on them to retain the heat.. LOL crazy I know..

I actually like NASA's point system. I just wish they had a bigger autox group in the Mid-Atlantic region.
