Yes, you will see a slight decrease in overall acceleration and mpg's as a result of the extra rotational mass.

Also, (been a long while since I watched that vid) I think the lap time on the 235's was just slightly slower than the 215's. Lateral grip increased iirc as well. With that being said, yes, 18 inch wheels and 255+ tires ARE unnecessary and probably unreasonable for this car under stock power. Not every mod needs to need an explanation. It's my car. lol.

Still looks awesome. Having grip for days is a blast.
Don't get me wrong, I do love the meaty tire look (Your car looks awesome btw), but I since I do plan on tracking my car, I want to get the most function out of upgrading to the right wheel/tire size. What I notice is that wider tires do improve overall grip, but going bigger than 245/40/17 tires will affect overall acceleration. I basically just wanted some opinion on the matter.

My Volk TE37SLs are 18x9 ... They weigh considerably less than the stock wheels, and by running 255/35 ZIIs my tire circumference is almost exactly identical to the stock wheels and tires.

I've had several NASA events both on stock wheels and the Volks ... I would rather drive with the Volks. Yes perhaps I'm biased because I spent so much on the wheels and tires, but having raced the same day on both set of wheels on the same track I was faster on the supposedly slower wheels. I drove with far more confidence deeper into corners at speed and had better braking with the added tread ... i also blew through small corner sections with greater speed and no tail happiness on the Volks.

My point? With all of the combinations of tire and wheel sizes, weights, compounds, etc... it's really difficult to say in my opinion that one set of tires and wheel sizes are the best. So long as you aren't going with an absurd combination I can't see it affecting you so negatively that you ate losing performance. If your driving style is more about swinging the ass end around every corner then maybe you want a smaller width ... If you like to have pure command in a twisty road course then maybe you go with a wider tread.

Fair enough.

If I was going for solely performance it'd probably be something in the 17x9 variety with even stickier (than the PSS I daily on) 225-245 tires.

This chassis behaves pretty damn amazingly with better and (in the case of many of the cars in this thread) wider rubber. I love the handling characteristics of my car as it sits - grimspeed strut bar, -2 degrees of camber.

Thanks for your input 255/35/18 tires has about a 1 mph difference in acceleration than stock. I think the extra grip and stability more than make up for that difference. I also like your wheel specs. The +45 offset is closer to stock. A lower offset would increase the leverage on suspension, which decreases the wheel rate (stiffness). I used to have a set of 17X9 +35 wheels on my rsx. The suspension would feel softer and turn in wasn't as sharp. I figured out that it was the offset that contributed to this. However, It did grip well and gave me more stability in corners.

A friend did a math for me a while back.

The speedo will be 1.7% faster and if you go with 35r it will be 2.5% slower. Id say 40r

245 should definitely work in the front. 275 is on the aggressive side in the rear, but people on here have done it. Some tires also run wider than others with the same specs, like Michelin PSS, so you should definitely check on that before going with such a wide tire...personally I wouldn't go over 265.

I love boost!!!!!!
FYI the V12 run smaller than other 265; Their like 255. I took my set off after 3,000 miles and replaced them with the BFGoodrich G-Sport Comp2 275/35/18.

Anyone running 18x9.5 +38 offset? I have Enkei RPF1s all around with 265/35

A little concerned with rubbing

Camber
-1.5 front
-2 rear

Anyone pull or roll their fenders?

I hear the tire rubbing against something in the front when my wheel is turned all the way to the right or left rolling forward but rolling backwards I get no rubbing.. My caster is at 6.5 degrees

I'm dropped with about .5" gap all around
