alignment damaged my coilovers by a well known shop

I took my car in yesterday to do my alignment and they pried on the top of my camber plate and damaged it. They said this is normal for after market camber plate. Can I get some help on telling me that this is normal or not.

So first 2 pictures of the damage driver side last one was passenger.

My assumptions are that he learned that they can't pry by damaging my driver side then jacking up the car to take pressure off the camber plate to do a clean one on the passenger.

Even if it was normal practice, is wrapping your pry bar in a shop rag or something to prevent metal-metal contact that hard?

Definitely not normal to scratch stuff up like that. Which "well known" shop did this?

Nothing normal about this, no tool should be required if there is no load on the hub and the slider bolts are loose.

Looks like ass but it should be ok very sloppy work I wouldnt have them work on my car ever again.

^^what he said. I would prime and paint the area where they removed paint from your strut tower but after that you should be fine.

I would also tell everyone I know what shop it was and I would never go back.

Edit, why aren't the strut bolts tight? Or are they tight? Any fastener should have a a bare minimum a single thread showing above the nut. That's not going to be very strong if that is tight.

6 sets of coilovers on various cars..including the BRZ.. and no way thats normal.. its being lazy. they didn't unweight the corner and just used the prybar to move the camber. When , in reality, all you had to do is jack that corner up.. loosen the camber adjustment bolts and slide... no prybar no force or anything..:/ . jack it up.. slide.. adj as necessary...tighten down.... lower car. wow.. some people just don't respect peoples stuff.. :/

You are correct, but this is pretty standard for a camber plate. The threading on the strut is a finite length.

And, I wouldn't go back to that shop. I would let the owner know that.

Agree with everything stated so far. Sounds more like it's a well known shop for cutting corners or having a lazy ass mechanic who doesn't want to do things the right way. This is one reason why if I'm forced to have someone else work on my car that I make sure I can watch them even if it means standing outside the garage in the cold due to their "insurance purposes" of not letting someone in.

Most shops aren't going to spend as much time working on our cars as we would it would be impossible to turn a profit. Not to point any fingers here but I have seen some shops cut lots of corners ie cutting bending prying things that shouldn't to increase productivity this obviously was one of those cases. Why unbolt and lift when you can save yourself time on the alignment rack by prying. Sorry this happened to the op hope the shop is reputable enough to aleast comp you some new camber plates and have that tower professionally repaired.
