Keys Stolen
My house was broken into while I was away this weekend and so far it looks like the only things that were taken were my keys for the BRZ, my roommates car keys and a katana. So be wary of any sword wielding car thieves in West Seattle. I'm guessing I need to get my car locks reprogrammed as well as having to swap out the physical trunk lock. Any ideas on what this is going to run me? Should I bother trying to claim it on my renters insurance? I'm going to call Carter on my lunch break to see if they can help me out today.

May be a close friend, or someone who lives nearby. 1st steal keys, then steal car. Doing it in phases/steps

How tinted are your windows? Sleep in that sucker with a 12 gauge until retard tries something.
I would be freaking if I knew a criminal had my keys and knew the location of my car. |

Not tinted at all unfortunately. I'm staying at my girlfriends place until the car gets rekeyed. Maybe this person will think twice about coming back after seeing all the swords and the Lee Enfield hanging on the wall.

If it's not garaged, disable the car somehow so it can't be started/driven. Notify your neighbors and have them look out suspicious persons.

BRZ limited will need more than just the keys replaced. You'll have to get a new immobilizer as well. not cheap.
Or they may be able to reprogram the immobilizer. |

I've mulled the idea of pulling all the fuses for the starting system and just baiting the thief to come back. Then they can see what that Lee Enfield looks like loaded and pointed directly at his/her chest. I'm not that patient though.

I'm going to hazard a guess that it's none of my friends. Our neighborhood has had several B&Es the past few months. Same MO as the others too, check the front door to see if anyone's home, then walk around back and gain entry through there.

Could still be someone living nearby since this person seems to be hitting multiple houses in one small area. Hope everything gets resolved though, you might want to invest in a security camera or something.
As for how much, I know it's not cheap... Had to have my keys reset for my first gen tc and the dealership wanted me to pay $200 for a new key and almost $1000 to reset the codes... luckily i was able to dig up the DIY and saved a ton of money. Unfortunately we don't have the ability to DIY key resets for these cars..

Can I just pull the starter system fuse from the interior and have the car be nonfunctional? Or am I going to have to pull every starter fuse on the interior and engine compartement fuse boxes?
