Well, I think a huge portion of the Aussie>Subaru misassociation is because of their outback line and how they focused a bit of their marketing efforts on being 'out there' in the bush.

But the truth of it is that Subaru and its logo has connotations of unity- the stars signify FHI's 'constellation' connection with its different parts... similar to how the toyota cowboy hat signifies unity and intersecting circles between the company (inner circle), the community it serves (middle circle), and the world at large (the largest circle)

Excerpt from a Subaru dealership site

Subaru is the Japanese name for the Pleiades star cluster, which in turn inspires the Subaru logo and alludes to the six companies that merged to create FHI. The word "subaru" means "united" in Japanese, and Fuji Heavy Industries has used the term to describe how the Pleiades constellation is a unification of the stars. Fuji Heavy Industries is therefore a constellation of companies united together.

Dude!
Don't hand the BRZ guys their argument on a silver platter. You just managed to wipe out my whole preemptive strike in one post!

In N.A. the car is a Scion, end of story.

I didn't rebadge because as @danthedirt once said about it, if you get lemons, make lemonade.

The problems with the moniker and the need for brand association all come from inside oneself. I reasoned it is better to just deal with that.

Maybe I can play a very minor part of the re-building of the Scion make into something positive. The car is tits, no doubt about that. Really though, it's not like "Toyota" or "Subaru" excite people anyhow.

That is what I find if I tell people it is a Toyota! The response is frequently "meh"! Can't swing a cat without hitting a Toyota around here.

Yes! And considering this is about the 5,000th time this has all been hashed out I think it is hilarious!
To use the phrase of the month "what ever floats your boat" is the reality on badging.

Very happy. I just think this is comical and say so, which AFAIK, is still allowed. Can I assume you have a stanced RB Ferrari badged car?

I got the BRZ just so that I wouldn't have to own a Scion. No offense intended to FRS owners, I've just never liked the Scion brand and never felt they had a good reputation.
I have a Subaru as well, but mine has Scion badges on it. I even added a badge front and back because I hate it so much.

Thats it. Let us settle all of these feuds with a drinking contest! We'll all meet up somewhere in the middle of the US (for fairness) And drink until the last man stands!
