Engine looks stock to me. Probably running in one of those VLN classes that are basically stock except for limited suspension changes, tires and safety equipment.

But then my experience with "german engineering" has been that they can make the most basic automotive repair overly complicated and insanely expensive.

That is one of the reasons I wish this was a Toyota drivetrain.
I thought the same thing of my MKIV Supra’s 2jz twin turbo setup...and that is a 90’s car. I got rid of all the hoses and actuators for the sequencial system, and I put it in true twin turbo setup. I’m not surprised it is worse these days.

How about this Lexus GS350’s engine bay? Better?

This is the prototype, so I figure they're just trying to make sure everything works. I'm sure the finished product will be cleaned up.

Its what the shroud is for nowadays, all to cover the big mess of black plastic bits, wires, and hoses needing to be routed somewhere. That and some sound suppression.

Ever seen a Lexus ISF/GSF/RCF/2UR-GSE V8 engine bay? Once that shroud comes off you get a whole whack of black plastic bits and hoses going all over the place.

Revealed: Undisguised Interior and other cool shots of the New Toyota Supra from Nurburgring!

Quote:
The Toyota Gazoo Racing Supra race car just hit the Nürburgring for testing which gave our photographers a close-up first look at the fully undisguised production-intent interior, open hatch, engine and more! Obviously, we won't see the race car bits (steering wheels, carbon fiber door panels, race buckets, cage) in the standard production Supra, but everything else should be in the production Supra.

Just my 2 cents on whether the more hardcore Supra option should be street legal.

Even though the idea is to save weight, I would say yes it should be street legal for the simple reason anyone serious enough to track a more focused vehicle would more than likely be able to remove the NHTSA features like airbags and crash beams without a problem. At least the rest of the market would be able to drive it on the street if they were fine leaving it alone. I don't really see an advantage to stripping down an already road legal vehicle to sell to an even smaller market when that market would likely tear the vehicle apart anyway.

A bit disappointed that they didn't at least attempt to replicate the fighter cockpit design from the MKIV and MKIII.

As expected it's a BMW interior.

I think I've missed something with the previous versions... "fighter cockpit design", I never associated with the older versions.. always looked at them as sports coupés with desires on the Porsche 944/928 thing.. may have missed read them...

I wish modern cars has dial next to the dashboard like the 80s.

Those thing really give you a cockpit feel.
