Forged Engine & Stage 4 AVO Turbo
Bought a used GT86 last week (2 years old with 7K miles on it) and I'm planning to do quite a few modifications to it. Now I've never really modified a car before... so this is going to be a bit of a learning experience and I'll probably get plenty of things wrong and ask some stupid questions along the way. But hey, all part of the fun.
Anyway I figured I'd start a thread here and post some pictures of it stock to begin with: Original plans are as follows, but this might change along the way: Stage 3 AVO turbo kit AVO 3 inch exhaust Oil cooler and uprated fuel pump and injectors KW V3 coilovers Strut brace Uprated clutch DBA discs all round Oh and getting it wrapped, possibly matte blue but haven't decided yet. Updates coming soon UPDATE (November 2016): Here's what it looks like now its been resprayed in Stealth Grey and had a lot of other mods done as well: and here's a montage of everything we've done to the car over the last 2 years : [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WaPITlMh5Q"]GT86 Mods Montage - YouTube[/ame] Last edited by ChrisD; 12-16-2016 at 11:39 AM. |

Another UK guy on here I see. This really is a great forum, probably due to the fact the FRS is so affordable in the USA compared to our rip off Britain prices..meaning they're more popular among tuners.
Which region of the UK are you in Chris?

Saying that I am importing a lot of my parts, everyone on the UK forums is pretty bland with regard to their tuning with a few exceptions. |

Oh and yeah seems kind of rare to see any major modifications on them here doesn't it. I remember on a UK forum I saw one guy that had just got a GT86 saying how he was going to "do it properly because everyone else is just treating their GT86 like a garage queen and not doing any serious modifications or drifting it etc" ... then all he did was lowered it and put some different wheels on :/ |

First parts arrived the other day so got to work fitting them (with the help of a friend who actually knows what he's doing unlike me). So yeah, the following parts are now installed and here's a few terrible pics:
SUMIT front strut brace DBA T3 discs (front only) Hawk HPS pads (front only) Oh and the KW V3 coilys arrived so will be installing them at the weekend |

With the help of some friends we got the KW V3s installed over the weekend - took a lot longer than expected as we didn't have the right tool to get the top mount off the stock suspension... but we got there in the end. Need to adjust the rear as it seems to be a bit lower than the front now, and might have to look at some adjustable rear control arms to get rid of the camber on the back but here's a picture of what it looked like straight after we'd installed them:
Next job is to install the Whiteline rear bushing inserts to hopefully get rid of some of that slack in the drivetrain. Then after that it's off to get wrapped in matte/satin blue, then once that's done it will be time for a turbo and exhaust to be installed (not something me and my friends can do unfortunately). |

Forgot to update this thread, but yeah we got the whiteline rear subframe bush inserts installed and they've definitely helped with the slop/jerkyness when getting on and off the gas. Still a few things we need to sort out with the suspension, but here's what it looks like with the wrap:
Pictures don't really do the matte/satin finish or the colour justice, but hey. But anyway, right now the car is at Fensport getting the AVO stage 3 turbo installed along with a full AVO 3 inch exhaust system, uprated clutch, oil cooler, boost controller, P3Cars gauge, and a few other little bits. Ordered some new slightly wider wheels with a lower offset (OZ Racing Ultraleggera, 17x7.5, et 35) so that they aren't so sunken in behind the body work. Hopefully should be here in a week. Valenti rear lights should be here soon too |
