The GTV's have the very popular Alfa twin cam engine, in the 80's they turbocharged a variant of this engine (1.8L) and made 150hp stock, the race version somewhere around 300hp for rallies. Considering race engines need a rebuild every 5k (Even less) miles, doesn't equal to a very street able engine.

While an SR20 with some bits and bobbles can choo choo with 300hp all day and be fairly reliable.

I love the idea of machining and engineering one off pieces for an engine , but in terms of reliability and price, it makes sense on the owners decision.

However, naturally aspirated and really pushing it, you could get a twin cam to around 200hp if you know the right guy....which would of been perfect for this car.

I think you're right, you couldn't take this thing and immediately drive it like it was designed to be driven, but the car looks like it's about +1" of ride height and a proper set of wheels and tires away from a good thrashing.

Engine kills it for me though.

This all day long, the twin cam Alfa engine is a gift from god, ~150 hp out of a 2.0L or 1.75L or 1.6L is totally reliably doable, in a car that weighs in around 2,000 lbs it's more than enough to have a blast.

(BTW this is a sedan powersliding around the track, would love one of these)
