Maybe, if it works out to be an annual thing, it could move around to help accomidate others from the eastern half of the country. I dunno, might just be wishful thinking. I am just glad there is a 86EXPO at the moment, regardless of where it is.

I understand the concerns from others further away. While you make a valid point for events in general, in this case it's an event that encourages people to DRIVE to Vegas rather than just simply flying there. To be honest though this is nothing but a glorified car meet. It shouldn't be hard for people in other regions to start organizing their own.

Why would you FLY to a CAR MEET? (Unless you don't have your FR-S/BRZ yet, I guess.) Sure sounds like a great idea, not sure if I'll be able to make it. Would be awesome if we could get a few of these a year in different locales in the future so it's easier to get to.

If this event is successful, we could see more...

Car Expos and Car Fests are generally much more than car meet or even a glorified car meet. It takes quite a bit of time and money to plan these things which usually include;

Drift / Drag / AutoX Competitions
Dyno Sessions and Live Tuning Sessions
Vendor Booths
Swap Meet
DIY Corner
The Car Show (with awards)

Also! many times special guests appear and you get a chance to see very rare cars or insanely built vehicles.

While this is our first year doing this we are starting on a smaller scale, we do hope to bring the most fun you can get as a FT86club member and make it so that You want to go each and every year and make it worth every penny.

Should you fly out? IMO yeah you should.

This one maybe be harder for me, living on the Eastside, to attend. Though I'm glad its being posted now cause I'm already being asked to book one of my vaca weeks.
So if I can't go (even though I really want to), I hope you westside guys have a good time.

I'll have a good time at our Atlantic Meet for the meanwhile. :happy0180:

Ive done 29 hours of straight driving in this car (solo) for a less epic reason. Going to bet that most people that wouldn't make the drive to VEGAS, have either A) Never been to Vegas, or B) Never road tripped longer than 12-14 hours...to the closest beach.

To each his own, but if people would make the drive, the event would be worth it.

1800 miles ain't no thing.

Additionally, you are complaining about driving your car? On forum dedicated to that car? I would figure people would be thrilled for an excuse to drive more.

I've looked and the SoCal and NorCal forums, are bigger and more active then all the other.. (Besides the canada and the folks from down under) ..I'm in Vegas, just moved here, but I use to ride my sport bike from central Texas the the dragon twice a year for two big sport bike meets, of course, nothing is stopping anyone on the east coast to get their own big meet.. Or maybe it shows why there has been three or four big west cost meets for a reason??

I wonder how the Supra would feel about driving out to Las Vegas... Or maybe I'll have an 86 by then, who knows?

Regardless, this event is going to be AWESOME and I hugely recommend everyone try to come out! If you guys on the East coast feel it's a bit cumbersome, plan out an awesome epic drive with more Zx6 owners in your area and have a group road trip out!

Also, you'll get to meet me, and I am freaking awesome, but I suppose you guys already know that....

Heard of it? I attend every year. But you can't compare a trade group convention to and enthusiast event. It is apples and oranges. The difference is that when you are organizing an enthusiast event you want people to attend WITH their car. Not fly in. Their expenses are not tax deductible like those of us attending the shows and their schedules are not as flexible. Meaning they aren't going to load their car on a car hauler and fly out like we do, their only option will be to drive and they won't/can't spend 2 day driving EACH WAY.

I love Vegas. I am probably going to buy a condo out there soon. But in my experience it is the wrong place for an event like this. Have it in Vegas and then have it in Indy next year and see what happens is all I am saying.
