Should have the engine out in the next couple weeks and another FA20 going in the car a few weeks after that. Pretty sure I know exactly what happened and how to prevent it from happening again. More details to come.

What hurts you makes you stronger. Hey slap some rods in the replacement. If you want to use factory pistons you need to shave the rod alittle, you want to balance the rods and pistons at the same time. Rods are cheap, new engines arent.

I have mixed feelings about low comp pistons out of boost.

Quick update: the FA20 I was going to buy didn't work out so looks like I'm going to put a V8 in it after all. But there's a twist, it won't be an LS engine.

Got the stock engine out

And the trans is out

Found a trans I think will work with the new engine

And then there's this. . . .

Nope, it's not a V6. (It's also not a Toyota engine)

I believe that's the rc-f or something. The 350 has a 3.5L V6. And this engine only makes about 380hp on the stock E85 tune.

That would make sense(350z). I can't afford a Lexus so I never looked into it much lol. I just remember seeing 5L V8 making any 450hp and LOLing at the Americans shitty power to ratios

Thanks for the pictures! I love following projects like this as I'm no where near competent enough to open up an engine :-)

Do you know what causes the build up on the cylinder head? I wonder if it's a result of blow-by.

You mean on the top of the pistons? After the piston broke the cumbustion gasses pressurized the crankcase forcing a good bit of oil into the intake and through the engine. But there's hardly any build up.

How embarrassing, lol. Yes, I meant piston. I'm still learning so there is a lot of info rattling around in my head causing a mix up from time-to-time... but I promise I know the difference between the two.

Thanks for the answer!
