Just looked up the CAE shifters....those are pretty sweet! Really short, precise throw and high up where it needs to be by the steering wheel. Reminds me somewhat of the Hurst Competition + shifter I had on my Track camaro, but much more precise and shorter throw. So is there an application coming out for the 86 or will it need to be a custom install?

Yo dawg, i put a Recaro on my Recaro...
Came in yesterday at a local performance shop and just picked it up today, actually is the heated seat version (not my choice, that's how it came apparently - being the last one in Recaro's current inventory for the optioned color/materials). So now I need to figure out the mount fabrication - it will be custom hard-mounted in place in as low a position as possible. So much nicer (way better ergonomics, appearance, and hey...seat reclining position memory...yay!) than the stock FR-S seat...can't wait to have it in the car!

My new driver's seat is finally in...
Didn't drop as much as I thought with these first revision of brackets I made...less than 1/2". But at least I'm now able to see the lights at intersections while in the driving position (just barely). Seat is way more comfortable than stock one, even with not as much rake as I want right now. And you don't flop around in the drivers seat anymore as it really holds you in place. Interesting how it changes the driving experience... feels like you are an integral part of the chassis where you can feel much more of what the car is doing - almost like sitting in a bolted in, solid mounted non-reclining race seat. I will be making more brackets to get a more optimal seating position with even more comfort like I know it can; higher in the front with more rake and I have an idea how I can drop the rear. The seat also needs to move towards the center tunnel at least 1/2" to be more centered with the steering wheel. The 3.3 ohm resistor is working great to keep the SRS system happy and took a little figuring to get the seatbelt light and chime to stop coming on...thanks to this thread realized just needed to leave the connector unplugged. So nice to have a seat that doesn't hurt to sit in...and the extra benifits of being so securely gripped and feeling what the chassis is doing unlike ever before are outstanding as well. Stock seats are so vague in communication and don't hold you that well in place they might as well be bench seats in an older american sedan... LOL

is that really the "fix" for the seatbelt chime issue?? one of the guys above said that's what he did also, but technically shouldnt just re-plugging the white connector for the buckle be all thats needed?

Well, I'm not using the stock FR-S seatbelt receptacle - I welded one I had from the last gen Celica onto the Recaro seat frame as it mates perfectly with the FR-S buckle and is much shorter than the way too tall stock FR-S receptacle. Removed the wiring and electrical connector from the Celica receptacle since it was different configuration than the FR-S one and wouldn't connect up. Leaving the FR-S connector under the seat unplugged is the only thing that worked for me. I always buckle my seatbelt anyways - don't need the idiot light and chime to be functional.

No real issues you need to worry about, just put a 3.3 ohm resistor in the SRS seat connector and leave the seat belt connector unplugged - then install the bracketry and seat. Done!
If using sliding rails it helps if you tighten down one rail at a time - like tighten the front inside mounting point, then slide the seat back and forth, then tighten the rear inside mounting point. Slide the seat back and forth to settle the slides and repeat process for the outside rail. Slides will be smooth and easy operating yet rock solid when locked. Hardest part of the whole process is getting the seat in and out of the car without messing up the door sill rubber and plastic...
