She's finally home
Finally picked up my Asphalt FR-S 6MT today after just about a month of wait time. Racked up about 100 km so far and I absolutely love it. The only thing that I'm finding hard is driving softly to break the car in a bit. This car just begs to be driven.
Just got two questions to throw out there. Firstly, what did you guys do to break it in or did you guys just ignore it entirely? Secondly, every time I get out of the car I smell a faint burning rubber smell. Seeing as how I'm not driving the car hard I figured it was just some new parts getting settled and worn in but just wanted to throw this out there to the forum to hear some thoughts. Below is just a quick phone picture....man I love looking at it...and driving it....and everything about it lol |

Congrats...the smell you're smelling is just the cutting oils and such burning off the manifold, exhaust, etc. This is a normal smell that I had too and will go away shortly. Enjoy.

Congrats!
And as far as the break-in goes, I'd just follow it, aside from emergencies. I know it's rough, but it's doable. |

nice ride
i did the break in for 500kms and then i just couldnt bare it anymore. so people prefer a really hard break in.

Just drive it like you normally would don't drop clutch or redline and you should be golden

Follow the break-in instruction if you want to keep the car at prime running condition for years to come. Don't do hard break-in. Hard break-in was for the old old days when you need to seat the rings, but today's engines are already break-in at the factory. It's all the OTHER components of the car that need to break-in. I'd say you should follow the break-in instruction from the people who actually built the car, not from people who say do a hard break-in when they never built a single component on this car.
The burning rubber smell is normal. I had it when i first got the car, and 2000km later i still have that smell it's just not as strong as before. During the break-in period just drive it nicely. |

you're gonna get a million different 'expert' opinions on how to properly break the car in. Just drive it normally since the people at the factory probably drove it like they stole it to test for quality. Go easy on the clutch for the first few hundred KMs but other than that enjoy!
oh ps. get a clear bra! |

Thanks for the posts everyone, yea I figured I would get a lot of opinions but still no harm in asking as the more you know the better. I have it upto about 350km now, have been relatively gentle and the car seems to be paying me back as I feel it's smoother now (maybe that's just me lol) I've kept in check for the most park but did semi let loose when I saw an open curvy road and hit about 5.5k rpm...aside from that I think I've gone over 4k like 3-4 times and haven't led the car slide, slip or stall so I feel like I'm on the right course. Also thanks for confirming the burning smell, great to have a community where everyone gives honest help and input, thanks fellas

Congrats on the car! Don't we just all hate that break in period? lol Just think of it as a reward to finally go WOT once you finish that break in period mark.
