Ok, just to be the devil's advocate, why would hood pins be necessary on the FR-S. Is it because of the possibility of the hood latch loop breaking off the hood or is it because of the flexibility of the CF/FRP hood? If its the latter, I've held the CF/FRP Seibon hood and it feels more sturdy than the stock aluminum hood, especially when it comes to flex.

I am just curious, because i would prefer to keep the car as sleeper as possible, but really wanted the vented hood...I also plan on copying RWDRIFT's hood, but in Whiteout, so it will still be understated but just a bit more aggressive than the ridiculous expanse of White that the stock hood is. I will probably get the same hood latches too while I'm at it, but we'll see.

You could just put the front lip, sideskirts and rear diffuser and not get the widebody. Then you could take your car back to stock. If you get the front and rear flares unfortunately there is no turning back.

Vented hood = sleeper? Logic doesn't exist in that statement. You are all for the hood, but have no interest in securing your investment because you think the HOOD PINS are too flashy? Buy a set of Aerocatch pins, flush mount them on the hood, and have them prepped and painted with the new hood. Simple, but by all means, toss the hood on without pins and don't come crying when the hood comes up and smashes your windshield and roof.

Thousands in repairs or a few hundred for Aerocatch hood pins flush mounted by a professional. Take your pick.

Ok snide tone not withstanding, I was simply asking an honest question as I have never purchased a CF hood in any capacity and wondered if the pins were truly necessary. The Seibon vented hood painted to color match the car but leaving the vents in carbon (like RWDRIFT's) is very tasteful and doesn't exactly scream rice to me, like leaving the hood unpainted or just clear coated. I guess the word I was looking for isn't sleeper but more along the lines of restrained. I like the car to look like a sports car but don't care for garish bodywork, wings, and stickers. Perhaps understated would better convey what I am going for.

Those low profile pin latches look really good when flush mounted and painted to match and will have to look into them.

Also I don't come crying to a forum when something breaks, I talk to whoever makes whatever I have that broke...and if I get blown off then i bitch and moan on the forums.
