Wanting something doesnt negate it being an overkill for its purpose. And if you want to pay for results cusco street specs arent very high in the performance world. Coilovers and cheap coilovers are often under utilized.

With any coilover or replacement damper, make sure you check on warranty and cost/ease of rebuilding in the future.

If you want a street setup, the Cusco Zero Street A setup will be just fine, but I think it's going to way passed your budget of $1,700.00.

If you want a great setup in that price range, you can always look into CKS Coilovers for your FRS/BRZ which is in the $1700 range.

which do you recommend tein flex? or cusco zero street A?? or a good spring set up like RCE yellow springs?

I think Frank (ModBargains) is confused on the Cusco's, he quoted me $2500, should be more like $1600 from what i've seen for the one's being discussed here.

yah they are about 1506 at frsport.com im thinking of getting those..but im not sure hahaa..still debating between these and the tein flex's...the other company i ordered the tein flex's from said they didnt have any in stock so refunded my cash..so im back to square one again

I know I'm a bit late on the reply here, but maybe it will help someone.

Cusco Street Series are optimized to retain the character of stock street traits, and maximize flexibility on how you build a car for the street.
Each of the applications are carefully tested and valved so it isn't exactly cheap cookie-cutter design however, so the street use manners are excellent with long lasting shock body and valve seals and durable construction. Very good for folks with high percentage of street use who wants to extend the sporting character with high consistency and low maintenance long term ownership.
The applications for sports cars are made with sharpness in mind, and for others like wagons and sedans, more towards comfort and control of unwanted motions. That said, it isn't exactly made for motorsports, as maximizing true track performance requires a more focused and not as wide range of flexibility.

For performance Cusco makes a much higher grade mono-tube units called Zero3 Series, which feature a much higher performance envelope and customized to street application to full racing and rally using very different valving and rigidity combinations of parts in different packages.

FYI: Cusco coilover system convention uses the following naming. Just to help one make a selection:

Touring A- OEM configuration fixed height replacement shocks (using stock or drop coils) and with adjustable damper setting.

Street Series (Premium Twin-Tube design)
-flexibility in catering to wider range of street customization, ride height and stroke range.

Street A- adjustable damper control, compatible with eCon electronic controller. (Height control at spring preload perch only)

Street Zero- adjustable height at damper body, and independent from spring perch, so as not to bother the preload while changing height. (Fixed damper setting)

Street Zero A - combined with both of the above features of Adjustable damper setting, as well as independent height control and spring preload.

Zero3 Series (High-end monotube, some inverted)

Zero3S - High Grade monotube compatible with street use, and casual sunday racing on track, autocross etc on street summer radials.

Zero3R - Full competition capable monotube

Zero3X - Totally customizable Triple Adjust separate reservoir racing system.

Additionally, KWV3 compares well to construction of Cusco Street A, (non-Zero) with use target of a little more competitive focus than Cusco Street Series, but not as refined in wide ranges of uses as mono-tube offerings from RSR or Cusco. The KWV3 however, are customized by a bunch of tuner independent shops so there are shop-specific version that are very good for competition use, if one can select from one of those shops (usually runs a much higher premium for good R&D though)
