Regarding my questions in the OP:

- I just bought some OEM base color and clear coat. I am expecting the price to repair at my body shop to be beyond what I want to spend on this, so I may tackle it myself.

- I still may buy a lip. Any recommendations?
Take the bumper off, I did anyway when installing my warranty replacement JDM headlights and while I waiting for a friend to show up I just hit that area underneath with touch up paint (the part that scrapes). It's more of a personal thing no one sees it but I know it's there

Good plan!

As far as the lip, whichever kind you buy, I suggest you just "glue" it on ...... then the next time you scrape a parking stop ........ you can just pick up the piece and ..... glue it back on .........

Here are some pix. Rainy day in Maryland yesterday.
You can see that this is not entirely "under" the car. You can see it just by looking from a few feet back.
Bummer...

That's not bad at all dude. I'm telling you, I went through the same thing and I had the same considerations as you.

Just touch it up and move on, you won't think twice about your decision. Like I said this happened to me a year ago and this thread just reminded me that I had this under my car, that's how unnoticeable it is.

I get it, it's a new car and you want it to be meticulous, but let's be honest with the thin paint as well you'd be wasting your time trying to keep up with everything.

Touch it up, you or anyone else won't even see it (until you're selling your car)

I have scratches on both sides of my bumper, right below the bend. I'm considering covering the area below the bend in black bedliner or undercoating. Scratch away! I'll just coat it again!

You got it bro. The spoilers are low, they gonna scratch, you cant panic everytime it happens or spend loads of money on a proper repaint etc. gt86 owners are hardcore yo!! The more battle scars the better!!!

OP, touch those up with touch-up paint and move on.

It's going to happen again eventually anyway.

Other than the tips of the fangs, you can't see any of those scratches anyway. Take your time a do a good job with the touch-up paint and all will be well. No need to get an expensive body shop involved and run the risk of poor tri-coat matching or the inevitable poor masking that will come around the grill area, etc.

That's not going to work with a routine touch up job, I would repaint the bumper or get a lip. It won't happen again if you remind yourself to not get too close when you park.

you should never put your lips so close to a curb that you may end up with a rash that was your own undoing. go buy some blistex or other lip balm.

... did... Did I win?

Man up, put a hello kitty band aid on the damage. Save more money and adds a shit ton on JDM points

I say don't worry about it until you really mess it up. Then buy the aimgain kit. Haha. That just falls into the "in my dreams" category.
