Dual Oil Coolers? Why not?
Ok, so this may sound odd, but I noticed with the frequency of side or fender mounted oil coolers for the FRS/BRZ platform that you have an opposite and open space. Considering the motor in this car heats up oil like crazy; even more so with FI, why don't we see twin oil cooler setups like we see on other cars?
The hardest part about setting this up would be the cost, but wouldn't you simply just attach the first coolers return hose to the second's entry? Seems like it would keep the oil stable, perfectly cool, and running more efficiently than a single setup. If I'm wrong about purpose, let me know, but it just seems efficient if you run a seriously dedicated track car. |

For example, wouldn't having two 19 row oil coolers equate to a similar value to a 38 row? |

I have dual coolers in my racecar due to limited intake area.
I used the smallest setrabs you can buy. For the 86 they could mount where the foglamps go. |

I'm not sure it would be worth it? I may be wrong though.
Even with my turbo. My 19 row oil cooler does more than enough to cool on the track. Over cools on the street.

Why would you introduce more points of failure and more complexity when one oil cooler is enough? If you have packaging constraints which force you to use 2 smaller coolers, sure maybe you make that tradeoff. Remember KISS. It's more important than symmetry and filling every hole just cuz'.

IMO, the only good reason to run two oil coolers is for cooling two separate oil systems. Like the JR oil coolers, one for the engine oil, one for the SC traction oil.

I would assume, but why would you need 38rows to cool?? Even FI would not need nearly that as others in the thread have stated.
