The color of oil is irrelevant. You can't determine the life of the oil by looking at the color. If it's black, that means it's working.

One is a used oil and the other isn't. Furthermore, they're both different brands of oil.

Oil color has nothing to do with amount of wear. Used oil will not be the same color as when it was poured.

Oil with ANY use will be darker than virgin oil, that's why colour isn't a good indication of how much life is left.

The point I was trying to make, is what is stated below:

Never hurts to have visuals to back up what you are stating... and I was trying to back up what you were stating.

FWIW: my ENEOS after 7500 miles looks just like the 1600-mile factory fill oil.

Same shade of black.

I don't think I've ran my ENEOS to 7500. I still change mine at 3000.

3000 miles is far too short for an oil change on any modern oil. Yes, changing your oil too often can actually cause more damage.

Anyway, curious to see more about the OP's car cause it sounds crazy...

With the exception of break in oil, the only thing that gets damaged when changing your oil to often is your bank account.

Incorrect, as the additive package takes time to actually function. It's in one of the SAE papers that I regrettably can't link as you have to pay for it (which is stupid)

They even repeated the test because they thought it couldn't possibly be true, but it actually caused more wear to change too often. 3000 miles probably isn't too short, but you're throwing money away if you're changing your oil that often these days.

Everyone has their opinion. My UOAs say I can run longer, I don't want to so I won't.

Well it looks like I'm under warranty. It turns out that the bearing I found is from the roller/lifter. The mechanic said that he plans on getting some pictures of the broken parts.

Nothing on the engine. I got my rear lamps done and the driver window seal was malformed.

Well I apparently put the number 4 piston through the side of the block. They say they engine was over-reved (which it wasn't); but they are covering it...so I'm not arguing.

You'd have to over-rev the shit out of it to do that, and I don't think the starter is that powerful. I'm glad they're replacing it under warranty though.
