The wife went to start her car this morning and it barely rolled over. Then it would only go click. Temperature was a balmy -25c. My fancy Snap-On battery charger/booster doesn't do anything so I fired up the tS from it's winter sleep and backed it out of the garage. This is known to be a very dangerous maneuver. I popped the hood and realized the batteries of the two cars were on opposite sides. Needing to get mine as close to hers as possible I backed out onto the road and attempted to turn around and back up the driveway. Having just blown it out Sunday after Saturdays big storm I was surprised to learn that those fancy a$$ tires on the tS don't do anything on snow. I slipped and slid and went in all directions but the one I needed to go. Finally I got the cars close enough that using two sets of booster cables clamped together did the job. Once that was done I had to drive back down to the road and turn around so I could drive straight into the garage. I got to the edge of the road and just barely turned the wheel and the back end started to come around. The car did this nice s l o w 180 and with nanny lights flashing and the car shuddering I made it back into the garage. I did not crash!

Good excuse to get The TS out in the fresh air... I always backed my xtr car into the garage, like that Its always accessible in case for a boost in the spring and giving a boost like today at -20C for the winter shitbox. My best friend today is the space heater on high! |

Drove my car yesterday, Sunday drive to keep the battery topped up... Driving towards a Pub (Public House, specialism: keeping the population pissed). Anyway, as I drive towards the Pub I note Ford Escorts (MK1 and 2s) leaving the car park.. Obviously a Ford Escort owners meet. As I near the entrance to the car park I note a very nice MK1 pull out of the car park heading towards me sideways... I had to slow down to allow the "rally" driver to collect his car, I didn't crash, nor did he..

Took a long drive yesterday to see our oldest daughter's new house, still under construction. I drove on a lot of the same roads the wife and I used to ride. (We do not ride our motorcycles anymore. They are for sale.)
The house is set back into the evergreens out in the "sticks". But it's only a 10-12 minute drive to the nearest village with all the usual amenities. There are some things I'd change but overall it's a good layout for a small family. On the way back home I drove through the town where my wife was born. We stopped to pick up French Fries off a truck and then drove over and parked along the canal near where her one set of grand parents used to live. We sat on a bench in the warm, bright sun and watched the geese with their young while we ate our fries. We had a nice long, uneventful drive there and back. I passed a few cars, went up and down the rev range and did "blip shifts" as the need arose. We did not crash! |

You need to teach him to ease up on the clutch slower.

By the way, is it just me or does ^porter^ look like Will Ferrell's canine doppelganger?

My daughter is 22 years old. Just graduated from the USAF Academy as a Space Force 2nd lieutenant. The woman cannot drive a stick. Don't get me started.
I took her out yesterday to some parking lots in an industrial park nearby, taught her on the 86. Did NOT crash. |

The wife's Crosstrek is still sitting at the body shop waiting for the insurance adjuster to verify the damage and sign off on it so they can start repairs. She's back driving her STi and loving it.
I had to go to see our new doctor, (yes we finally have a new family doctor) for a follow up re my pancreatitis/galstone issue. So...I had to wake up sleeping beauty and drive my tS to the appointment. (Good thing she's got snows on.) I just had another birthday which meant I needed to go to Services Ontario to renew my plate. Also, I had a government rebate check that I needed to cash. Off we went. It was dull and very cold with big fluffy flakes falling when I left the house. That meant the sanders were out and the roads were very wet and slushy. by the time I was driving back the sun was out. The roads were dry with white salt dust rising with each passing car. My garage queen now looks like any other regular car from Ontario. Also, this happened on the way home but I did not crash. |
