My only true complaint is I DONT HAVE MINE YET!!!! OCTOBER IS SO FAR AWAY!!!

Back on topic though, when i get mine it will not only drive me daily to and from work i will wring the life out of the thing on the track when possible, Interior, dont care, will be scuffed up with 4 spare wheels in the back for track days. rattles and squeaking, seldom heard at 6-7k rpm sliding sideways. I see value-for-money when i look at that car. Now if the veloster turbo were RWD i think we may not be having this discussion. However the Koreans are yet to develop a RWD car worthy of the kind of reception the BRZ/FRS/86 has. I dont think the car world can quite use the words Korean and Performance and RWD in the same sentence....just yet. 2012 BFYB.

I dont see how you can get excited for a 200 hp fwd econobox and in the next sentence bash their 350hp rwd coupe.

The GC compares more to the Mustang (not favorably, either, IMO) as it's more of a pony car than a sports car.

The correct comparisons with the 86 have been mentioned - RX-8, MX-5. Lightweight, good handling, classic sports cars.

the econobox you might be referring to (frs/86/brz) is actually RWD.
the 2 makers i am talking about are Toyota and Hyundai. there is some confusion here. nonetheless i digress, the koreans have a long way to come if we are comparing build quality and bang for your buck, especially sports coupes. the veloster from hyundai would of been a serious contender if they went rwd and maybe a 1.8 turbo at least, not a overstressed 1.6.

This reminds of a TSB I saw for the Evo when it came out. It said something about some noises and stuff in the car being normal. It said the car was designed with performance first and comfort second.

What makes you think this? Hyundai quality is rated as basically equivalent to Toyota and Honda. And when you compare features the GC gives more for the money.

Totally agree with the OP. I would've loved the option to add these things though. But oh well, at least we can purchase them somehow. $25k is super cheap. In Europe these things are going for about 25k EUROS(do the math). So while I am disappointed at the lack of options, I'm totally ok with getting this car for $25k and being able to add on parts at my discretion. The mod-frenzy has begun.

What people pay in other countries is completely irrelevant. Trade tariffs, additional taxes, penalties, etc., etc. My $13000 Civic back in the day cost well over $20000 in Greece for example. Same car, same year.

I understand the additional penalties, taxes, tariffs, etc. But are you trying to tell me that all those costs add up to at least $11,000 (Spanish GT-86 costs approx 30k euros = approx $36k USD) and that Toyota/Subaru are giving away all those extra goodies that we don't get for free? This is an OUTRAGE I tell you, an OUTRAGE! We should revolt!

That point has been driven into the ground.

I was referring to your excitement about the veloster turbo, a 200hp fwd econobox. Nothing wrong with that, I just found it amusing that you would get pumped about a very sub par car when compared to the gen coups. Don't get me wrong I considered getting a veloster turbo for the wife, but it in no way is in the same league as the gen coups. Packed full of tech but the build quality and design just doesn't seem as thorough as the new coups.
