Not questioning you @SirBrass, just stating I need to get out there and learn from a pro what it is I'm doing incorrectly.
Death grip gives my hands the shakes, ending up in the muzzle moving before firing. |

The way off POI is because the original unmodified rifle sights are on the shorter barrel.
From a bench rest it should at least group as well as a 12 " pistol. I used to get a kick out of watching Steve McQueen fire 5 rds rapid from a 1 or 2 shot cut down Winchester - LOL. But he usually never used sights - firing from the hip and getting the bad guy at a 100 yds ! CERBERUS |

Increasing grip strength will reduce that shaking at that level of grip. I'm speaking from experience here as well. As to training, I can't recommend Gunsite in Paulden, AZ more highly in teaching folks how to shoot. Not as highly on the when or the aftermath (for that, I can't recommend Massad Ayoob's MAG40 class more highly), but for the mechanics & gunmanship, Gunsite is like going to Skip Barber or Bondurant. Gunsite will also cost you. The basic pistol course is a week long from 8AM till sundown & cost is about $1.5k before factoring in ammo (you'll expend about 1100 rounds on the range that week), lodging, and food. But it's absolutely worth every penny. When I went I'd never shot a pistol in my life & had only minimal firearms exposure. That week took me from complete and utter noobie to actual reasonable competency & decent marksmanship. Now, lack of practice saw that deteriorate, but the course left a permanent foundation of gun handling whereby I could instinctively handle a gun safely & also handle it for shooting in a way that let other instructors easily help me get my marksmanship back. That's how well Gunsite drills the skills of draw, presentation and shooting into you. That, and you'll have an absolute blast that week, especially as you see yourself improving noticeably in speed and accuracy from a dead standstill. Then sign up for the way less expensive (and itinerant, so need for travel is less for some folks) MAG40 from Mas Ayoob. That'll be a LOT of classroom education on the when of deploying those skills you began to build at Gunsite (Thunder Ranch & Front Sight are 2 other schools who can teach you just as well as Gunsite, btw), and dealing with the aftermath in such a way as to best keep you from prosecution (assuming it was a legitimate self defense shooting) or, if prosecuted anyway (some prosecutors are assholes), to make it possible for you and your attorney to successfully see you found not guilty. Anyway, just like how we tell folks that the best mod for their car is to tune the nut behind the wheel, spending money on good, reputable firearms training (even if you have to budget & save up) is the best thing you can do for yourself. On phone I am. Therefore, if mistakes I make, Frank Oz blame you should.

Ugg, this thread reminds me I haven't shot in a while. I need to do that, and photograph my guns. FWIW I have a Springfield 1911 "Loaded" and S&W 586 6in barrel. I have had a bunch of other stuff, but those are the two I fell in love with.

The front sight for mine was actually missing entirely when I got it. It wouldn't have been any use anyway with how inaccurate this thing is.

It's an Enfield No. 2 Mk. I* in .38/200. Standard issue sidearm of the British military during WWII. This one was made in 1941. Early No. 2 Mk. I revolvers were DA/SA and had a spurred hammer; this was replaced with a bobbed hammer during WWII to save time and manufacturing costs, resulting in the No. 2 Mk. I*. The Mk. I* revolvers, like mine, are DAO.
It's an interesting gun to shoot. The trigger isn't the greatest- it's heavy and creepy - but these clearly weren't target revolvers and it's sufficient enough. The British practice at the time was to fire double-action rapidly at close range, and it works well enough that way. Being a top-break, as you'd expect, it basically unloads itself. Break it open and the casings all go flying off. Drop in six more, snap it shut, and you're back in action. I prefer my other No. 2 Mk. I* pistol, but I'm glad I have this one too.
