Not true.

Actually it's good for about 1-3 horsepower.

http://86drive.com/2014/03/02/rick-na-build/

A different way to look at it: If your engine is rated at the Japanese factory to make 200 HP, then 94 octane lets you make up to that 200HP, just as Subaru intended. If you run lower octane, i.e. 91 then you are probably making 197 HP.

Yeah it says "tuned"

Like said it'll help if you have a "94 tune"

Plus dyno is in WHP then you talk about crank HP. It's a pretty inexact science converting those.

I merely provided empirical evidence to refute your unsubstantiated claim that "94 octane is worth about 0.001 horsepower."

you can pick at the data all you want. people can make their own conclusions.

for me, it's not worth running 94 octane every day, not for the additional cost. I run E85 (yes, with a TUNE) for a substantially better cost/benefit ratio. But for some people, the difference between running at 98% and 100% of your maximum performance is worth it.

Anecdotal evidence and empirical evidence are pretty much equal. Lol.

I don't do it all the time - I wouldn't want to pay the premium price on every fill up. I just did it for fun since my gas light was on at the end of my Pinehurst -> Redwood -> Palomares drive yesterday.

I'm running the OFT 91 octane tune.

I think all the 94 does in my case is allow the OFT 91 tune to operate to it's full capability. It definitely felt smoother & faster after the 10 gallon fill up. It has been shown by some members that even when using the OFT 91 octane tune, there is still a significant amount of knock & timing reduction that takes place on our wonderful California 91 octane fuel.

I'm very much tempted to try E85 at some point in the near future, even though I'm really happy with the performance of the 91 tune.

Meh. I've already never gotten above 24mpg in my car since I got it, so not a huge deal if it drops to 15-20.

Lol. Disregard my PM. I was only able to log in just now. Do you have any after market ICE? Bad ground possibly? Maybe have the alternator tested?

Shouldn't the battery be covered by warranty for several years?

Curious, did they end up denying the warranty due to lack of maintenance records?

My favorite part of the announcement that they will be debuting the new NSX on January 12th 2015:

"Mendel also confirmed that Honda will launch small-displacement, turbocharged engines for use in production vehicles."

Awwww yeahh! More competition is always a good thing, and what if they already have an answer to the Twins in the pipeline? Could be a very interesting next couple years.

....But maybe I'm just overly optimistic that the market will be saturated with lightweight, affordable, rear wheel drive sports cars.
