could the tire shop have fucked my car up?

so I went to have tires put on my new RPF1 today, they went ahead and installed them at the same time. been driving around for about two hours now, and just as i got out of my car, looked around tightening the wheels, I noticed these

is this damage that can be associated with someone not knowing how a lift works?

im gonna go ahead and bet that the repair is hideously fucking expensive, too.

I'd say that it fits the bill... Take it back to the shop, stay calm, and speak with the manager regarding the damage. Hopefully they'll make it right!

I'd feel like an idiot if it turned out it wasnt them. they just closed, but I'll shoot them an email at least before I drive back later.

couldnt have been caused by driving on highways for 2 hours, nor have I ever noticed it before.

Almost 100% sure that is a result of the hoist. My wife's brand new Impreza had almost exactly the same damage to the side skirts when the dealer put it on the hoist wrong to do the prep.

most ironic part is that i asked to watch them put them on.

they wouldn't let me, of course.

While that definitely looks like hoist damage, it may be hard to prove it was their shop that did it. They may just claim the damage was there before they worked on the car. Good luck.

Just judging from the pictures you have, the damage looks "fresh" to me. I'm just hopeful they'll work with you and not going directly on the defense.

Take really good close up pictures of the damage with a date in the background, (a watch with date works, a newspaper corner, even using a dry erase marker just above the damage,) to show how fresh it is. If it's down to the metal it will tarnish very quickly.

This is why A) I always take pictures of the car before I let anyone do service and B) I do a walk around the car to make sure no damage occurred and point anything out before I drive away. BTW, I normally do my own service because I don't trust mechanics.

Wow, they attempted to jack up the car via the body instead of the pinch welds, or their lift somehow got in the way and damaged the body.

And then they just gave you the car back without saying anything. Incredible. I would expect this level of incompetence from US car dealerships, but I guess it happens in Norway as well.

i honestly wasnt expecting it, at first i assumed it was me that had been a dumbass and somehow not noticed it, which is why i was so shocked when i saw it.

but judging by what everyone is telling me, and how fresh it looks, yeah.

to their ''credit'' the jack point at that corner is kinda fucked, but it still doesn't really justify it.
