Bummer man. If it makes you feel better I had a tree partially fall on my car, I got very lucky but the entire hood had to be replaced and the new car sat in the shop for what felt like forever. You can totally repair that damage so no worries man.

For updates on my car for those of you who thinks a smashed car is not a problem: drove mine for less than 2 minutes before it went back for repairs. Doesn't drive straight, rattle in back when going over bumps, screeches when turning, rear trunk not put together properly, not aligned and scratches paint as well, and now the clutch makes a weird sound.

So you took it to a shitty shop. Doesn't exactly prove the point.

What's the difference with the following 2 scenarios:

1. New car involved in an accident that's repaired by a recognised body shop, and
2. A "classic" that goes through a restoration again done through a recognised body shop

One is held in high esteem whilst the other is tarnished due to the bodywork repairs.. The new car is repaired using original factory parts, the old possibly not due to lack of available parts therefore the owner has to resort to copy parts.

My father used to rebuild salvage cars. Had a frame rack in his garage. I've seen the work trying to straighten unibody type cars with major damage. Not for the faint of heart. Lots of heat and pulling. Trying to over-correct a movement so that it settles in the proper place.

Yup. Done well, that's high art. Lifetime to master.

It's all through the insurance. The repair shop will look at it, and i will continue to inspect and test it in their parking lot until fixed properly. At first i didn't mind small details like the VIN sticker missing on the door, but now they're going to hear every, even the slightest, problem i have with it. I'm hoping another two weeks until fixed.
How's your car doing? Has it made it to paint yet?

I wish I was that persistent with my old Impreza when it got rear ended ... insurance was a bunch of clowns and the body shop was a bunch of hacks

That blows and I'm certainly going to be in the same boat things with my car are moving super slow the guys insurance was supposed to call me by end of day sat(as of fri he still hadn't reported it)I basically hounded the guy and he finally called me back yesterday and told me an adjuster would be in touch "in a few days" my next day off isn't for another 10 days or so and I'm working 12 hours a day so I kinda gotta leave the ball in there court because every time I call this guy it's an hour on hold just to get his voicemail

Not a big deal like cole said it's awesome to waste my free time hounding this guy and I think it's so cool to be making car payments on a car that's sitting in the shop while I have the privilege of driving a base model v6 charger :/

That was my rental while mine was in the shop as well. Their rationale in giving me that car was that "it is sporty just like yours".
It isn't!
