Between your options, I'd go Maxima just for the sake of a bigger more comfortable car.

If it were me, I'd look at used Jeeps. Cherokees especially are comfortable, better in winter, and can probably be had in your price range for decent mileage.

You can get a nice used Civic Si for less than $20,000.

As people already said on the forum, use it to invest. But if you really need a second car, i wouldn't buy one that depreciates that quickly. If you need something more comfortable than the FR-S you will have tons of options, because just almost every car out there is more comfortable than that.

I would suggest a Tacoma, FJ Cruiser, maybe a Jeep Wrangler, or something that doesn't depreciates as much. I think autotrader, autoblog, etc usually have a list of least depreciated vehicles.

I think the civic and the maxima are two totally different cars so it is really difficult to compare them directly. I would decide which size vehicle you want in your price range, then start cross shopping those cars.
My mother had a 2010 Maxima which I drove us to family outings and such and damn that thing has power. Also fully loaded its a blast to be in/drive. I can't decide D:

and no luggage or hauling isnt an issue as I never haul stuff.

Then why the fuck are you asking for other people's opinions? Jesus Christ.

You're just like the people who ask a question, but "know" the answer and will only take advice or listen to those people who have an answer that jives with what OP wants to hear.

Edit: buy the maxima. Or don't. Buy the civic. Or don't. But don't make a thread asking for people's opinions saying you have a shit ton of money (aka ego stroking) and shit on people who have a suggestion that you may not have thought of.

What's your deal man? I'm just gathering opinions. I am down to these two cars and am looking for help. I've just been hearing to many "invest your money" comments that don't really help. If you don't have anything positive to say then please don't say anything.

if that's the case Spatcha88, buy the civic. It will be easier when it comes time to sell. The civic appeals to more of a larger group of audience than the maxima. Females/Males all like the Civic, maxima seems to gear towards male.

The maxima also has a V6 so some people might be turned off when they hear that (omg v6! that's not mpg friendly!).

As someone who was in a similar position not too long ago, I went out and bought a new Accord. (The Accord drives / feels so much better than the Civic, and it's almost as cheap if you can haggle)

In retrospect, I think it would have been wiser to go with a least-jank-as-possible $7-10k daily. (Maybe a unicorn manual TSX with low mileage?). Lately, being in Michigan I'm considering picking up a cheapy (<$5k) Ranger for the added towing capability. Maybe a light truck will do you well.

If you must stick with these two narrowed choices . . . I can't help you but suggest otherwise :P For that kind of money get a Used Si Sedan?

Wait, the FRS is not a comfortable, normal daily driver car? :P

Heh heh heh.

Yeah after lots of research and lurking on other forums I decided to go with the 14 Civic Ex-L. As Much as I love the Maxima's power, the depreciation on it is really quite sad. I was hunting the ads on auto trader and some other dealerships and most of these cars are sitting on lots for quite a quite a bit. Also I'm really digging the tech in the civic while even is kinda "gimmicky" it's still nice to look at during my little commute to work. Also I don't want to rack up too many miles on the frs.

Thanks guys!
