Though I'm sure it has caused issues later too, but not that much so it's a common issue on newer cars..

But anyway, that is not what we're talking about
I only know of used ones. Not a huge issue in my eyes, since I know how people use them. Abuse them on track with 700+ wheel horsepower, and they seem to hold up very well. Compare that to a, what, 500 whp, mostly street-driven GT86.. It'll last a long, long time

Hell, I bought a smaller/weaker BMW/ZF trans from a E46 320D to use in my Nissan S14 when I was swapping in a LS1 V8. Never got around to using it though, since I sold it before I finished it (and bought my GT86 right after it sold!).

A friend of mine is putting a GS6 into his S13 drift car right now. It'll run "only" about 400 whp though, but I'm sure it will see more abuse than your car, since I know how he drives, both on the street and the track
Great, I'm stoked to see what your friend does with that s13! But I was talking about BMW quality of make when talking about vanoses and stuff like that, I know it doesn't have anything to do with the box.

I don't understand what's so funny.

But to answer your question, the same way anyone else ships large items around the world crate it and ship with a postal service.

Yeah, but it's gonna cost quite a lot.

I blew my trans last fall at 400 whp.

I can't speak for what the best option is but I can tell you what I did.

I bought a full straight cut first through 5th gearset from PAR australia.

Reasons being: I've always wanted a straight cut gearset. I have an expensive os giken twin disk clutch (which i love) that I didn't want to have to replace with a different clutch with a mazworx transmission. Price competitive option and I wanted something I could beat on and not worry.

https://www.par-engineering.com/prod...ion-fr-s-copy/
Price in Australian dollars. Once converted I think I paid a bit over 4 grand for the gearset.

I bought a used trans for 400 and brought it over to Jacks transmissions.. And had the gearset shipped there from Australia. PAR does take their sweet time and I think it took 2 months to come in.

Jacks trans is probably the best aftermarket shop I have ever dealt with. I cannot say enough good things about them. They absolutely know their stuff and have fast turn around. If you do decide to do any custom transmission work I wouldn't go anywhere else.

That said.. I haven't driven my car yet with the PAR set. My shop is throwing the trans in right now up here in Canadia. It's going to be a whiney bastard. If I had the capital and didn't like the sound of straight cuts I wouldn't think twice about getting the Jacks transmissions custom set.

Just my little story. Will hopefully be up and driving in a week or two.

Interesting bit of info, thank you. Especially since you're in Canada as well

That's true and the syncro set from jack's is said to help with it.

UPS is a private shipping company that’ll charge you all kinds of scammy fees and brokerage charges. USPS is just the united states postal service that will not do that. I avoid UPS like the plague.
