This is regardless of standstill or no.
Curious where you have the numbers for this... most of the time from what I've read the Auto is generally 1 second slower over the types of distances you're talking about, unless you're looking at the high-end where they're paddle shifters across the board.

0-60 times has a long selection.

Here is just one

2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata 0-60 mph 6.6 Quarter mile 15.0
2006 Mazda MX-5 Miata Sport (Automatic) 0-60 mph 6.9 Quarter Mile 15.4

It's a pretty sweet power, not gunna lie.

But really, no need to be an ass about it. I was giving some encouraging advice to a new manual driver. It's not as bad as people make it out to be.

Ignorance made them prisoners of their machines.
There was no unintended acceleration, it was mostly old farts who confused the gas with the brakes. I think it was mostly the ***** cars ooops I mean priuses that had pedal confusion issues.

Tacomas had a recall in regards to pedal acceleration. But it was caused by the pedal being too long and getting caught under the floor mat. I believe the recall also applied to corolla, Camry, prii, and tundras.

we-e-ell.... I had a look at that site, it doesn't really have that many in a direct comparison. The one there is between a regular MX-5 and an MX-5 Sport - I don't know the exact model differences, but chances are the Sport will have some improvement to make it faster than the regular model.

I really don't think the twins are special in being that much slower for auto vs manual - no-one doubts that manuals are quicker over these kinds of tests, but I don't think the transmission being used here is especially at fault.

I think in most general cases the auto is about 1 - 1.5 seconds slower in the quarter mile in a lot of cars. It is the same way for the oldschool shitbox 90s Mustangs, my 2008 Hyundai Accent, and I'm sure many, many more. Not being able to launch is a big factor, along with automatics *usually* suffering from more drivetrain loss than a manual trans.

yes! this is correct! '"slippage" is a factor!
transfer of ''energy" in a "slush" box is different
from a ''direct drive" transmission
