Was mad someone parked in my normal spot today at work. I have a backup spot where nobody will park next to me but there is a GIANT pothole to maneuver around. Short story short, was paying too much attention to this crater of a pothole and rashed my bumper on a curb. It's not as bad as it could have been but will require some love to get back to normal.

Shit happens

This actually belongs over in the subaru section but I really wanted to add my story to the rest. I took delivery back in June so this was back when things were a little warmer...

When I got the car, everything seemed to fall into place. I had decided on either the (car very similar to the fr-s) or a genesis coupe, so I applied for an auto loan from my credit union. My old beater was breaking down and I figured I'd be getting something in the next month or two. A day or two later I get a call from the local dealership letting me know that a preorder with the color/transmission/options package I was interested in had backed out with the car on the lot. I left work a little early and drove down.

On the way to the dealership, I get a call from the loan officer telling me I had been approved with a pretty decent rate. 15 minute pit stop at home and I print out the approval letter, to see if the dealership could beat it. Everything seems to be working out here.

In my hurry, I didn't make it to the bank or even remember to bring my checkbook. I didn't have anything on me to make a down payment. No monies. Somehow, the sales manager thought I was okay to go ahead and drive the car off the lot without much more than a signature and a smile.

5 hours after I got the call from the salesman, I'm looking to show it off and picking up my first passenger. We drive around a few neighborhoods after dark - nothing too strenuous for my new ride. We're between residential neighborhoods where there's a small stand of trees and I'm taking a sharp curve at about 35-40mph, I turn on the sweet HID high beams for the first time.

There's a glint off to the side of the road and it takes me a second to register what it is before I basically stand on the brakes.

A fawn had decided that now was the time that it wants to cross the road.

I stop about 2 feet short of this dumbass. In my new baby.

That I haven't paid for yet.

On the first day kept power cycling headlights (bad for HID) because the DRL LEDs turned off while I was showing the car. Took a few minutes to realize they turn off when you have the parking brake engaged.

Not something I did in my FRS but because its a manual. When I switch between it and my automatic volvo I tried to push in the clutch and slammed on the brakes all crazy.

I let my brother drive my car while he was visiting, and when he comes to pick me up from work, he shows me a dent in the front towards the bottom of my front bumper.

He basically was going too fast down a street that had a dip in the road.

Never again will I let someone else drive my car, even family.

A week after I got my FR-S, I accidentally locked my keys in the trunk while at work (no spare on hand). Had to call a locksmith to get the door open. That's when I learned the hard way that the trunk release button is electronic. I had to manually pull the backseat open to crawl into my trunk to get my keys. All this while people were probably watching me from their windows at work.

You could say "smooth" is my middle name....

Yeah same here, I have a feeling a few family members would ask to drive the car once I get it. Only person is probably my dad.

Why? Because he had to give up his 67 Camaro when I was born! XD

I'll take him on the twisty that the sales dude took me on during the test drive.
