I assume this is the typical experience? FYI - my 2013 FR-S has 37.5k miles.
They should go away as soon as you accelerate and ya unless you are straining to hear them you really can't when the car is closed up.

OK now over to all the guys that will swear they are ripping their ear drums out all the time...

Get a subwoofer. That'll drown out the crickets and only cost a couple hundred bucks

Speaking from personal experience, my crickets go away when I run Shell V91, Currently I'm running Petro Canada Ultra 94, which has ethanol in it, so the crickets are back, but you know what? I don't care because 'MO POWA'

The only thing that ever totally killed the crickets for me was E0 gasoline. But even if you're able to find it, be prepared to pay a lot more for it. They used to have ethanol free 93 in my area, but it's become damn near impossible to find.

Tcoat, thanks for verifying my opinion that folks really are complaining about nothing.

"My car makes a normal harmless sound that is inaudible during operation. Must be rekt!?!?!?"

Well in all fairness some may be louder but I can only hear them in drive-throughs or if I turn everything down and listen really, really hard.
I also can get how anybody that doesn't know it is harmless would be concerned the first time they hear it. Sounds like an old v belt slipping or a water pump about to give up the ghost.
I have more concerns about the injectors clicking since in all my old V8s that noise meant I was going to throw a rod or blow a valve at any second. Don't think I will ever get used to that sound especially when they change from port to direct or back.

I just had 5 hours diagnose at toyota dealership due to the cricket sound 2 weeks ago.
NO PROBLEM FOUND. NOTHING. THEY SAID THE CAR RUNNING FINE AS IT IS BRAND NEW.
They said its totally normal, but since they stop replacing the fuel pump, so they only lubricated the fuel pump for me.

Embrace the crickets. You may never drive another car this unique, quirky, and fun again.

Yep, pop the hood and watch the coolant drip/squirt from the fan shaft.

What to do...depending on finances ..??

Keep adding coolant.

Off to the junk yard to get another one.

Disassemble and re-pack the shaft (if the brass bushing wasn't too warn).

Buy and install a rebuilt water pump.

Yep, a 2 beer job ..... after you secure another one......

Or 9 or 10 beer job in the case of my 58 Nomad when the water pump literally flew apart and put the fan through the rad.
It was preceded by a noise very much like crickets actually.
