The Level 0 kit for an E36 is $3900. That's for the mounts, headers, transmission xmember, driveshaft, steering shaft, and bolts for those items. That does not include wiring, their accessory drive kit, CANBUS programming, any coolant/ac lines, or any other hard parts.

I can see all the parts being ~$8k, not including the motor or transmission. For what you're get, that still strikes me as an awesome deal.
If it is top of the line quality, I actually think that's a good deal for the peace of mind and "running like stock (but with huge torque)" when you are done. If it's priced like that, I will do it someday. Plus, you can buy stuff piece meal and not all at once. Like you could buy the engine/trans first, let it sit for 6-12 months while you save up for dose #2. then take the rest of the plunge. Or vice versa. Also curious, as with anything, typically high end modding (BMW, Audi, Merc, etc) costs more. I wonder if it might be slightly more reasonable even then that. I guess it's possible.

Yep, I'd suggest either an LM4 or L33. Those are the aluminum block 5.3s. If you choose the right head and cam to go on them, you can make 350-400hp, and you can do it for less than $1500 ($1000 if you know where to look).

I found a salvaged 2010 camaro SS with the 6.2 for $200 on a junkyard website lol, it was front end damage, but the engine bay pics looked like it was intact and fine.

I'd do the all aluminum LM4/L33 5.3L on a budget. It should be all the power I would ever need and be reliable too. I hope the entire swap kit will be priced near their BMW kit. Looking at ~$15k for a properly done swap will be very enticing. That's way better than sinking ~$15k into built turbo fa20 crap with questionable reliability and a glass tranny. Ultimately, it will come down to how much the handling characteristics will be thrown off. I purchased my FRS solely for its handling capabilities. I won't do anything to the car that will hinder those characteristics.

The only downside I see with this swap would be the weight of the transmission. The T56 is a heavy bastard, and it sits biased towards the front of the car slightly. I don't think the engine itself would be much heavier, if at all. Aluminum LS blocks are surprisingly light.

For me, it's not how much weight this swap gains, it's where it puts that weight. I hope they post corner balance numbers when it's completed.

Hey, WGP dropped their kit down to $8k to compete! To bad their kit is much lower quality.
I'm guessing the complete kit will end up costing $6500-$7500 which would be amazing & just what this platform needs. I just wish there were more transmission that could fit, heck I wouldn't mind a 6L90e working. At least then I'd have one more part from a salvaged Camaro.

A few days ago I found a stripped BRZ at an auction without it's engine, trans, seats or radio equipment. If I can find a 2010+ Camaro SS manual with it's engine & trans then I'll be in business!

Can't wait for more updates!

i remember posting that you could get a stripped twin for 5-6K and then a wrecked camaro for 8-9.

You're looking at a total for a 420 hp car of 25K and then add an e-force supercharger and you've got a 600hp carb legal twin weighing less than 3Klbs for 35K...

And people try to say that the twins aren't the best bang for buck out there...lol
