I'm yet to get "traditional" poutine around Sac, but I have found some that I do like. Formolis bistro make a pretty decent one, but it's all "fancied" up: small portion for the price (it's an appetizer) and gravy from scratch, so it's a little on the runny side. The tri-tip poutine from the buckhorn grill is pretty good too, but mostly because of the tri-tip lol plus they use regular cheese instead of curds...

I didn't understand the need for curds till I had this poutine..

The way the place made it, they basically end up mixing the fries with the gravy and curds together, nice and hot. So you end up having gooey melty cheese that never ends.

Don't get me wrong that shit is unhealthy, but holyyy crap is it one of the best foods I've eaten in a long time.

One thing I noticed: there are way more fancy, over priced hipster/farm-to-table/gastropub/fusion/cafe/boutique bullshit out here than in the bay.

Sometime I just want a damn cheap place that serves good traditional style food. My wife and I are still looking for a good ol breakfast place that doesn't serve "creme fraiche" on fucking everything...

Yeah I noticed this as well when I was looking for places to go on date night. It's either that or lower end franchise/chain restaurants. I haven't tried many breakfast or brunch places around here yet. Only had Bacon and Butter and it was okay. Typical brunch place on the pricier side. Still miss cheap but good places I could walk in and grab a bite without having to wait in a line full of people who are there just so they could post their meal on Instagram.

Ya, Bacon and Butter, although quite the temptress of a name, was kinda meh for the price. Agreed about people who just want to feed their Instagrams with food pron lol. The franchise restaurant comment really hits home... This is suburbia...

There's a pretty good place in Pacifica (I know, it's hella far from Sac haha) near Rockaway Beach, I think, called Breakers.

Nothing better than being filled with morning beef and just enjoying the afterglow for the rest of the day.

Damn... this genuinely upsets me... I may just "go home sick" to go for a drive and catch breakfast by 11...
