They told me I would have to get a bigger gas line, and redo the flue. Cheaper just to get a new 60 gal at Home Depot and pop it in. If I was staying here, maybe.

Well, OK, you asked for - the rest of the story -

Back in those days, the primary fungicide used in orchards was sulfur. I mentioned that the property was a prune orchard and the house is where they stored their pesticides (including sulfur).

Yes, later on down the pipeline, mercaptan, the harmless chemical that is added to natural gas, contains sulfur, which makes it smell. Many people describe the odor of mercaptan as similar to rotten eggs (sulfur).

So, the whole damn place smelled like rotten eggs -

Ol humfrz ain't as dumb as he looks -

They are more expensive up front but we did see a decrease in our gas bill during the summer (when our only gas usage is water) of about 10%. Slow ROI but continuous hot water is worth it!
Thanks for the heads up -

Let's see, I take a shower once per week.

ROI evaluation, I'm 76 years old - that did it, however, maybe I could include that in my will - ??

DAMN, that reminds me of ANOTHER non-car story.

It was a cold winter in Germany and the first mrs humfrz and I had rented an apartment over a warehouse. I asked the landlord about hot water. He pointed to this small unit over the kitchen sink. You turned on the stream of water that ran through a small radiator with a gas burner at the bottom.

Poof - instant hot water dribbling into a bucket. Then one would take the bucket of hot water into the bathroom and pour it into the bathtub.

The first mrs humfrz was not impressed. OK, lesson learned -

I just made this, it's a variation I have not seen before. If you google origami trillium, they have wider petals and no pistols. mine has longer petals and pistols.
