I remember being at the 2003 LA auto show waiting to see Toyota's "fresh and funky" box concept and the next gen celica that would rival the Si. Found out about scion, first time buyer incentives, and how they supported OEM aftermarket parts while keeping the warranty intact. It was an interesting concept, didn't really play out the way they hoped but it has been an interesting experiment.

RIP to the longest running marketing experiment.

BRZ will still be good.

If this is true, I wonder how cheap you will be able to buy an FRS at a dealerships "going out of business sale"?

Just speculating, if true, Scion could be rolled into a sports car division of Toyota? FR-S, SF-R, FT-1(Supra) ahh I love guessing.

One of the greatest brands in the world did not need a value marque to be hip. This has been a long time coming along. Good riddance, IMO, like saturn, it was never a brand to be proud of.

I think the whole Scion branding thing was stupid as shit from the very beginning. Everything should've been under the Toyota badge to begin with. Lexus being the exception because they do ultra high end stuff.

...yea, it'll also be like $32k CAD before taxes!

I'd be surprised if they killed Scion now with the release of the iM and iA, but I also think the death of Scion is inevitable.

Maybe our cars will be collectible one day after all.

There ya go
And yet again!!!!!

"As first reported on carbuzzard.com, a meeting was held late yesterday afternoon where employees of Scion were informed of the brand’s imminent demise."

This is one clickbait making a statement and everybody running with it. The fact that the original statement that started it all is now gone is rather telling.

1) Source is suspect
2) I don't see them killing the brand off after just introducing the iA and iM
3) Those of you assuming that the FR-S would be replaced by an 86 branded car with all the goodies should be prepared to be disappointed. Subaru will likely keep the premium features.

Yup, if you google "scion" in News there is more than 10 "articles" about that, either re-writing the original source or commenting on the rumour while emphasizing it's a rumour only at this point (Jalopnik)
