Exclamation Estimate Cost of Repair

Hey guys, just had a little accident with my rear quarter panel. I dropped a cooler from a shelf and it landed on the car unfortunately. Just wanted to ask how much you guys think this would cost...gonna go around tomorrow for quotes. Possible filler and paint match needex I believe.

PDR about $50 if he's good if not over $250 for something like that. I got one smaller fixed for like $65. It was a 10 liter? paint can that fell on my trunk. [was a 2005 Ford Thunderbird]

I think I see paint missing, correct?

That should be a repaint and blend of the rear after the dent is pulled out.

I would find a good shop that matches the paint, but I would prepare for 1-1.5k.

Or, have PDR pull out the dent and the plastidip it.

PDR - $200.00 + touch up paint.

PS - I did something like that (only not as bad) ...... trying to lift an empty recycle bin over the back of my car. The older I get ...... the heavier recycle bins get ......

PDR might take that out. If you blow the picture up you can see a crease at the top of the dent so not sure how well it will pull out (no pun intended)

PDR isn't going to help on that one. Around here that is an easy $1000 for a well done repair. Prices differ by region and quality though.

And geeeez just kind of cooler was that? Something from 1951?

He got it for his 75th birthday.

Also, no matter what have a PDR take a stab at it first. At the very least it can be a more minor repair when a full on body shop gets to it, but it looks like PDR can mostly sort that out.

PDR does not work well where there is a body crease or ridge. He managed to smack that right on the quarter panel flair line. Almost impossible to PDR that successfully.
Creating a "more minor" repair is just throwing money away.

I've seen smaller dings on creases popped and massaged out to be good, not perfect though. Is it the size that eventually just catches up as it deforms back out?

My wife's last car, an 07 Forester, had a front fender one where someone pushed it in on a crease and they were able to pop it back out, but I think the whole crease was pushed in so maybe that's why it came out so clean/as good as it could.

Ya if this was just pushed in there would be some hope but the dent has created a crease on the crease and sharp edges are tough to get rid of even on flat surfaces. To look as good as new it is going to need paint anyway so a shop may as well do the whole thing instead of piecemeal.
