Pocket Dyno App Results

Disclaimer: These results were gathered on a very secluded back road. if any of you want to give me gruff go for it, i'll just ignore you.

So this app seems to be pretty accurate considering it is just a phone. You have to input specific vehicle and driver weight. I launched the car anywhere from 4500 to 5200 RPM. The app was free in the app store. Pretty darn easu to use too.

I did four runs and these are the overall results of the four runs:

These next screen shots shows the summary of my best run (14.7):

How I secured my phone:

1. Put the cup holder all the way back
2. take a microfiber (or something similar) and fold it up and place it in the little cubby infromt of the cup holder.
3. wedge the phone in ontop of the mocrofiber

(you will see that this secures the phone quite nicely)

I'd just stuff it in the smartphone cubby underneath the radio

Those results look extremely accurate for a bone stock FR-S.

So the app just uses the phones GPS to come up with the numbers? No hardwire or bluethooth connection to the OBDII?

Just curious. I am old skool (and just old). Do not have a smart phone although all my kids do. I still think phones are used to talk to other people on. Who knew they are not for talking but rather for texting and monitoring your car's performance?

If you use the Torque app for Android smartphones, it will give you this and MUCH more information accurately, including but not limited to RPM's, Speed, boost, coolant, intake temp, oil temp, the list goes on and on.

However, because it gives you this incredible amount of information and the ability to erase CEL codes, etc, it costs $5.99; but very worth it.

Pocket Dyno is very good for being Free.

Pocket Dyno is very good for being Free.

how the hell does it gather all that information without plugging into the car??? or does it plug in???

if it plugs in how does it gather all that info through a USB port??? or do you need to buy a special cable?

too many questions???

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005C6KIVS/ref=ox_ya_os_product"]Amazon.com: Bluetooth Car Code Reader Compatible with Android / Droid / Torque: Car Electronics[/ame]

It plugs in via OBD2 port and sends data thru bluetooth to an Android device with the Torque app installed.

Theres a free version of the app too but yeah. It still beats multi-hundred dollar scanner tools.
