Sounds weird but didn't get much of an explanation. Second dealership was able to get a master tech from Subaru of New England to take a look at my car. He did notify me that when he took a closer look into the vehicle, noticed that it there was a knock in the passenger head. He told me this is due to the cams and was not part of the recall. He also said that he would extend my warranty in this case as a one time deal with me due to the TSB with our cams and repair the vehicle at no charge. So the outcome, my car is being fixed at no charge. Overall, I would love to know why exactly my cams went bad though.

Did the dealer swap the intake/exhaust cams or position of the cam caps, or possibly not properly torque the cams back into the head? (not torque down evenly and start fully torquing the cam at one end and work to the other)

The cam didn't. The camshaft bearing did.

Just an idea , but it appears that recall failures are associated with oil flow blockages.
So what if soon after recall completion , an engine oil flush and oil filter replacement and a second oil change is done?

Update:

The Dealership ship has told me they will stand behind their work and are taking responsibility. They have ordered a new crank, connecting rods, and bearings. Will take 7 days to ship from California. They are doing the rebuild of my motors which has me worried since they caused this.

It's not clogging the oil filter. There is no oil change done with the recall. The oil is drained to perform the work, then filled. The filter is not replaced.

Just got back from talking to the service manager. Stated they had subaru of new england techs take a look at my car and classified my issue not recall related. They did give me a tsb 02/151-14r. Subaru of New England has extended my warranty to cover this tsb free of charge. This might be a tsb to add to the bulletin board as i have not seen it up there yet.

There are small screens in the oil passages as they exit the head, into the cam carrier. If there is debris caught by them, a flush won't help.

I read that this was the case, and then I read that they are including a filter and oil replacement in this recall. My oil and filter were certainly replaced.

How difficult is it to get to these screens?
