Could be the clutch fork lube drying out and needing to be regreased, if you can replicate the noise with the engine off it's that and the bearing doesn't need to be replaced just yet. The bearing going bad sounds more like a squealing, metal on metal not being happy while the clutch fork is a 'groaning' or creaking sound.

Is it a short "squeak" just when the pedal is moving or more like a prolonged "squeal" that you can change by changing the pressure in the pedal? There are a couple of things it could be. If just a squeak when the pedal is moving it is probably a simple matter of lubing the fork. If a squeal then get it fixed soon before it blows and mangles your whole clutch.

EDIT: Strat's post wasn't there when I first read the question. Now I look silly by saying almost exactly the same thing.

After watching the videos, im pretty confident the fork just needs some lube. Thank god. Thanks for pointing this out. Thanks @Tcoat for the same info! Really made my day.

If it fails it takes out the plate, flywheel, snout and just about everything else involved in the clutch.
Don't leave to too long like this idiot did!

I'm amazed how you managed less than 36k in almost 6 years!
Even if you're under 36k, you're still out of 3 year warranty. But again, depends on how nice your dealership folks are. Subaru's customer service is eons better than anything I have had to deal with, so fingers crossed!

Is there a date, vin or year range for this issue? I've called Subaru Canada and they keep informing me that there are no TSB or Recalls for my vehicle of any kind...

Made multiple calls, spoken to multiple reps and same answer based on my VIN. i have a 2014 Manual Transmission BRZ

A TSB for throw-out bearing? Never heard of one. There is an updated part & updated grease, but no TSB to make knowledge.

TSBs will not show up with a VIN search like a recall since they are just a technical document on how to fix a problem for the techs not a a notice of an issue to the owner.

Here is the BRZ one

This is for Scion/Toyota

Smile noise while depressed

Mine has been making noise for a while (2013 FRS)

going to get
Toyota New part: SU003-07349
Toyota Old part: SU003-00802

& probably the snout wear item SU00303853
(used to be part of the whole trans case on older subies)

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIlCxj3-LhU"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIlCxj3-LhU[/ame]

The bearing is a wear item. I think it deserves more attention
it turns more rpm than any wheel bearing would
while taking on the vibration cause nothing is balanced! except maybe the crank.
And also, it's under pressure about 1/3 ton of force when applied
Everytime we startup , we press on this.

That reminds me, shouldn't there be about .100"-to.200" (in general
airspace between the TOB & Pressure Plate fingers?
With all of the Clutch/Fork combo issues, creeping,
heat, etc, I wonder if companies offering aftermarket
clutches/forks take that clearance into consideration?

Other companies can make throw out bearings that last for >100k miles - hell I've owned 3 manual vehicles that went 80k + over about 8 years each. All of them were traded without needing to touch the clutch/TOB. My driving hasn't changed that much and the BRZ TOB failed with 35k in about 4 years. The clutch friction disc looked like it could have gone another 70k easy.

Subaru (or their supplier) just dropped the ball on this particular part.

Not to resssurect an old thread, I have a 2013 frs with 68k miles. Can I put in the subaru throwout bearing in to fix my squeak? I've tried lubing the components already
