Installation cost for a crank pulley?

I'm a noob when it comes to installing aftermarket items, so I'd rather leave it to the experts. Is 70$ a reasonable price for the labor? It seems fast and easy to install from the tutorials...

I wouldn't pay more than 15$, and even then, that's a dollar a minute.

Yes, and no. It's a really quick and easy job, but the simple fact is whenever you have someone else do the work ther is going to be a minimum charge which this probably falls under.

A lot of shops have a 1 hour minimum and $70/hr seems to be a fairly average rate. Seems decent to me.

If you are planning to add aftermarket parts to your car you better learn to do the work yourself or it will get insanely costly. You need to start somewhere and the pulley is stupid easy, check the DIY section as I am pretty sure there is a write up.

If you don't have the tools (Breaker bar, torque wrench, sockets and screw drivers) then buying these to do it yourself can easily run more than $70. If you plan to do other aftermarket stuff it's worth the investment to get your own tools and learn your car. Take the opportunity to learn and enjoy it.

Just don't do it without a torque wrench, please.

I'd do it for a beer.

This is so true. A few years ago i invested in a basic socket set, torque wrench, air compressor, impact gun, and impact sockets. Also got a spring compressor, and a few other odd tools etc. Total spent was about $300. Then i installed pulleys, intake, exhaust, suspension, brake pads/rotors. Within a year the tools paid for themselves, probably 3 times over. Shop labour is rediculous, and with all the online resources and DIY's it's really hard to mess something up. Always just give yourself 2-3x however long the job is supposed to take... take your time, and have fun! Its very satisfying when you do the work yourself .

If its an auto I would recommend a shop doing it for you as its not easy to get it off (you need to lock the flex plate) if its stick its not too bad. We charge about 50 for the install and free if you buy the pulley from us.

Man, I was lucky enough to get it done for free from a local shop right down the road from my house. But yes, I really took about 15-20 minutes, so I don't see it costing too much.

I am not mechanically inclined. Never even did an oil change. I installed my pulley no problem.

It built some confidence in me for sure. I'm looking forward to installing more mods.

I'd rather do the mechanical stuff than electrical.

You can also use a crank pulley tool. That's what I did, and it makes the job easier on a MT as well. Well worth the $50 I paid for the tool.
