There are car brokers in the US, although they might be referred to as "buying services". A lot of credit unions belong to one, or offer one as a "member benefit". Services like CarsDirect and to some extent Carvana are primarily brokers.

Finally a decent review. Some really good points about sports cars and armchair racers crying foul while buying Prius's and Camry's.

Its a subjective thing Petro.

Some find it nice looking and others don't like it.

The Supra has a tough world to please and this is just the beginning as for stuff awaits us in the coming years. Toyota didn't go thru all the trouble to make us a Supra to stop further development down the road.

Fact that they are all sold out means good news in future. A manual and better looks may happen to please the rest of the crowd. Buyers have shown their power by securing all allocations and enthusiasts have voiced out an emotional cry for the cherished manual they long for.

F a manual. It's 2019. This thing needs dual clutch.

Why?

The this auto is just as fast or faster than a DSG. Probably lighter and able to hold more power reliably too.

Newer performance biased automatics are a far cry from the automatic in your old Camry.

yes it needs a manual....but in 2019 what does a DCT actually provide over a nice TC? they are both faster than a good manual operator, the difference in shifting speed is very minimal and I would assume a DCT would add even more weight.

You can have full control on the gear changes in a dual clutch. Shifting on a manual transmission is so old school (thinking). How/why people still use it is beyond me.

huh...have you used a modern TC? even the 6 speed AT in the 86 does a very respectable job. What more control does a DCT give over a TC...?

And how can you not fathom people wanting to shift themselves when you have a S2K in your profile picture and when you're on a site for a car that has had the highest MT take rate among today's 2 doors...

...clicking a paddle does not give me any satisfaction
...the computer shifting insanely quick does not give me any satisfaction
...getting to the next stoplight a few extra seconds quicker than someone using a stick does not give me any satisfaction

what does an automatic transmission actually provide? laziness? saving your hand/knee? easier ability to text & drive?

You can have that on a normal torque converter auto too if it's programmed as such. Same with a DSG, there are some DSG's that don't allow full control either (i.e. let you bang off the rev limiter forever).
Don't start with the auto vs manual. Just let it be. You're just as ignorant for suggesting manual drivers are old school as they are for thinking auto's are lifeless. It's a preference/opinion.

Reliablity wise DSG are poor as daily drivers, or if you experience any heavy traffic.

TC reliability is not a issue, plus as stated, you can abuse a TC with much more power and not worry about it costing you your kidney to fix

86 vs new Supra--review by TFL car

The new Supra just got dynoed today. 339whp and 427lb ft of torque. Over 200lb ft almost right off idle (1600rpm), more than our motors make in the entire rev range.

I’m definitely throwing in the towel on the 86 platform when funds allow.

So it is actually making more like 400 at the crank. Typical BMW numbers

I'd still buy the Supra, but only in a 4-cylinder + manual configuration. As long as I have a manual, I don't need that much HP to have fun in everyday driving.
