I love both the pre facelift and facelift tail lights lol only thing I’d change them to is the Spec D red tail lights. They are similar to stock but the whole thing is red and it looks really nice on certain colors.

If anybody with the new taillights would prefer the old style I'd be happy to swap.

Harry’s Lap Timer and a compatible OBD II dongle is a good option for recording data at track days. You might also send your oil in to Blackstone to keep an eye on your engine health. https://www.blackstone-labs.com/

Had a blast doing my first HPDE in my '17 BRZ yesterday. There was one big braking zone where I figured we were suppose to go from 4th to 3rd to 2nd. One time as I was attempting this sequence, I got into 2nd too "early" in the braking zone, meaning that the wheel speed was still too high. When I glanced down quickly, I recall seeing 64mph, which means roughly 8300rpm in the engine, assuming that the rear wheels spun at the same speed as the front.

That freaked me out good and I learned to wait a little bit to downshift into 2nd in that corner

Questions:
  • Assuming that I did get the engine, for a brief moment, to 8300rpm, am I okay if I don't notice anything wrong with the engine? It completed its last 20-min session and got me home safely with no noticeable side effects.

  • Does the ECU record max RPM reached? Can I hook up an ECU dongle to find out for sure?

Thanks all!
I was reaching for forth one time, at red line in third, and managed to get second instead. That was in a neon. I drove it for another three years before I sold it, the engine still working fine.

*raises hand* to having botched a 5-4 downshift...by going to 2nd! Caught it before catastrophy, stomped the clutch, threw away a great lap, and most certainly saw the needle unwinding from the 8,500 range lol! My heart rate was about at redline as well for the weekend waiting for the engine to grenade on me...still hasn't happened

Can someone please clarify: Is there a way to check your ECU to prove/deny an overrev? And if so, how? Thanks.
