Painted Fender badges

Alright guys, voice your opinion here. I wanna know what you think of my little experiment here. I painted my fender 86 badges to look JDM and see if I like it. I only did one side as an experiment. Help me decide!

First pic is JDM, second one is my painted one.

Looks good! Can we get a shot from further away? The shade of red might be a little bright for my liking, but I'm planning to do the same. What kind of paint (and paintbrush) did you use?

USDM emblems are completely silver, no red at all. Real JDM badges will set you back near $80 on ebay. I just bought $10 worth of a brush and paint. Scion emblems look like this:

@i_4got

I used the same setup as I did for my shift knob. Tiniest brush I could find, and Testors enamel. Here's the shot you asked for. I got as far as I could while still noticing the painted look.

Looks good! Better than I thought it would. The bright shade actually works well when you look at it from not so close up. I'll be doing this sometime. Probably when it gets warmer though.

Not as much as you would think actually. It was more about the method. I'll probably take pictures when I do the other emblem this Sunday, but I masked the outside of the vertical lines on the edges pretty easily. Then all you have to do is have ready a couple of cotton swabs and a little bit of paint thinner ready for when you screw up. Whenever I would screw up and get paint outside the indentations in the emblem, I would take a cotton swab and very lightly brush the edges until the fresh paint rubbed out. The key is not to press too hard, because if you do, you'll get the swab inside the indentation itself, removing the paint you wanna keep. If you screw up big, just dip the swab in some paint thinner and rub away lightly.

You know... not noticing a big difference between the JDM and my painted one is a compliment, so thanks! Lol

I'd find a way to mess it up myself.

Good job. Looks good.

Makes me glad I have a BRZ.... Me and any kind of paint have a long and terrible history.
