Police cruisers now being equipped with a cannon that launches tracking devices on cars they are pursuing. Welp... shit.

I did that with my old car.

It was at night and with a lot of traffic. I knew that he was targeting to me, cuz he turned on the alarm lamp right after he saw me. However there were 2-3 cars between us. I just pretended that I did not see him, made a right turn and went out of his sight, drove in to a alley and turned off my car.

BTW, I turned off the car and realized that I parked next to the police office.

All the stories told so far have been about things in the past, and most people have said they were bad ideas and people should not run from the police. People can learn from the mistakes of others. If someone gets motivation to run from the cops from reading this thread, then that person is such an idiot, I don't think we're going to have much affect on all the dumb said person is going to spread into the world regardless.

Fair enough. I deal with the public a lot and I'm used to planning for the lowest common denominator

Just drives me crazy that morons like these give people who drive sports/sporty cars a bad name and higher insurance rates at the same time.

Definitely understood. Of all the sketchy stuff I've ever done in a car or on a bike though, nothing I've done has contributed towards insurance rates. The only wreck I've ever been in was when I was like 18 trying to make a blind U-turn because an 18 wheeler was blocking my view. Got T-boned by another vehicle. Super super dumb of me, but had nothing to do with the whole "speeding" concept society always loses its mind about.

Damn, glad you made it out OK.

I think we've all had those moments when we look at our buddy in the car with us and say "that was the dumbest thing we've ever done." I know I have and I learned, too. So allow me to step off my high-horse.

Everyone learns from their mistakes but it can be hard not to glorify them in a place like this especially when they got away with it becauseracecar.

I have a running bet with my cousin that the first one of us to get pulled over buys a 6 pack to split. On that note, I had an unusual experience once. I had just finished my break in and I was up in the mountains to drive around a local reservoir. By the time I had reached the end of the on ramp, I was doing 75 in a 50. The on ramp was right after a curve in the hwy and suddenly lights come on from 5 cars back. A CHP had just come around the corner and I must have lit up his radar. By this time, I had reached the next (and my intended) exit so I was on the brakes. As I see the CHP maneuvering up towards me, I begin looking for nice wide places to pull over. Unexpectedly, the CHP pulls behind the car immediately behind me! Some old car that probably wouldn't be able to do 80 without falling apart. I couldn't believe my luck. I was so convinced that I was going to get pulled over, I was already thinking of what beer I should buy.

This one time in my Nissan Pathfinder the cop called for back up because the thought I was trying to get away. In all reality I wasn't pulling over because it was a very narrow road with no shoulders and I wasn't trying to be a douchebag to all the other people on the road. Got a $120 ticket for going 30 in a 25....... GOTTA LOVE THE COPS.

Was out for a weekend cruise going through some backroads in the woods. I'm driving along talking to my friend and out of nowhere an SUV squad car pulls out of the woods with his sirens and lights on. Stops before he gets to the road though.
I'm pulling over slowly, really confused. Before I make it to a complete stop a guy on an ATV comes drifting out of the woods like a bat out of hell. Trail of dirt behind him, half-standing, leaning forward, the whole 9. The cop sits there for a few seconds before another ATV pulls out of the woods, then he chased 'em down.

If I hadn't stopped there was a good chance he would have swung out onto the road right in front of me. I always see the car chase shows where the guy gets caught off something un-predictable. That's almost how it turned out
