Really? So when does the FRS get GT86 lights, dual HVAC, push button start, keyless entry, frameless mirrors, trunk liner, and proximity badges? Seems to me the 2014 FRS w/ kneepads is the one that's outdated.

Ironically, it's a $80 price increase over the BRZ increase which just happens to nearly coincide w/ the cost of knee pads.

Notice I said that in the literal sense using model year/date (2013 v 2014) as the main qualifier. The 10 Series equipment requires you to pay thousands more which disqualifies it from being more "up-to-date" because extras are accounted for in cost. All things being equal (with extras accounted for in cost), the kneepads are what outdate 2013s for the FR-S and BRZ. The 2013 BRZ Ltd without kneepads is a more fair comparison to the 2013 10 Series but that got outdated after a year, not after a month.

Lol, I'm sorry but kneepads (that you do pay for anyway w/ the 2014) do not outdate anything. Especially when you can just buy them and pop them on.

I'll tell you what outdates a car. A revised suspension, a new LSD, added welds, chassis reinforcement, adding a HUD, dropping in a new 2.5L are what I'd consider outdating a car. Not kneepads I can buy online. Maybe I'm just weird.

Maybe you're just trolling. MY 2014 was announced 1 month after the 2013 10 Series but the 10 Series didn't include the kneepads... that's all I was saying.

For $300 Purchase Cost You Can Install Center Console Knee-pad & Armrest In 2 Hours

To install center console knee-pads and EDM armrest - both mods done simultaneously - it is much easier to remove the console, then drill for the armrest installation.

First, to install the center console knee-pads you actually get to a point where the console is nearly loose anyway , so just 4 more screws around the base of the gear shifter + 2 more larger screws at the bottom of the console below the arm rest cavity and the console comes out free and clear.

Once the console is out as one large piece of plastic, adjusting the template fit conveniently, drilling the console perimeter accurately, cleaning the drilled holes thoroughly, then setting and re-installing the armrest is a much easier process than doing it when the console is still wedged between the two front seats in the car.

Now your 2013 FR-S is even better than the upgraded and more expensive 2014 - life is good.

I just did the center console knee pads myself last weekend. I was embarrassed to tell anyone what I was doing and what I paid ($120) but the right knee bone was digging in.

Now about the center arm rest ...

So, I just bought my FRS a few weeks ago. When i purchased it, there was no radio installed. I took it back the next day to get one installed and was expecting one of those boring ugly stock head-units. To my surprise there was a brand new touchscreen display installed just like in the pics. At first i thought they made a mistake, but maybe they just don't have those other radios at the dealerships anymore? I dunno. Either was I'm stoked.

And that in a nutshell is why I had a positive feeling about me buying the Fr-S at the first place - the deeper committment (aka, pockets) of Toyota Motor Company!!

This is a good news story any which way you look at it.:happy0180: Thanks for sharing.

Yeah it's another Scion fail buddy.

The 10 Series FR-S is a 2013 but wait a minute Scion is marketing the 10 Series FR-S as a "Scion 10th Anniversary model" (2004 to 2014) so we should have gotten these parts.

Cool. I can't wait to snatch a set of these pads from a junkyard in a few years.

Technically, Scion was founded in 2002 with the first Model Year cars (xA/xB) being MY2003 vehicles. So that's why the 10 Series is a MY2013.

I know all of this but Scion is marketing the 10 Series as 10th Anniversary models so is it 10 years from 2003 or 2004..??

The 10 Series tC is a 2014 model.....
