Very impressive peak torque number, although I distrust old style Dyno Dynamics dyno runs that aren't done in shootout mode. My experience has been that no matter what you do the GT28/AVO sized turbo will lose some boost at you approach redline. The best you can do is try to minimize it though a boost solenoid.

Interesting that your torque doesn't peak until 6500 RPM. You should have your full 8.8 psi way before then and should be able to make more torque earlier in the RPM range.

I didn't realize this existed!

Nelsmar
Kit: Vortech Supercharger w/ upgraded 3.125" pulley
Fuel: Flex, dyno on E80-E85
Boost: 11.5PSI @ 1,100FT
Fuel upgrades were done, everything else was stock. I took the muffler & OEM intake snorekel off out of curiosity a few days before. Tuned by FA20club on the dyno (flew him in to do it). Hood open was 360WHP, hood closed was 357 with slightly warmer engine temps. Nearly identical between

In comparison to all the other 57 trim dyno graphs that have been posted, they build max torque around the same RPM range. It seems pretty typical of the turbo.

Can you post examples? I look at my dyno (GT28), David's dyno (AVO), and the Greddy kit up above and see quite a flatter torque curve peaking where full boost is reached and all those turbos are fairy similar to a T3/T4 57 trim. We can take this discussion to the FA20Club thread if you want.

I don't think the physical dimensions have anything to do with it. The AVO kits that were tuned and on the same dyno as the one I posted made more torque and sooner but the one I posted made more horsepower than both of them.

It's not necessarily the turbocharger itself and definitely not the tune. Basically, running off the wastegate spring, this particular turbo setup produces x amount of boost in the midrange and creeps up to about 2 psi more towards the top end. So even though we're seeing 8.8 psi at the power peak, there is only about 6-7psi in the midrange. The manual boost controller shifts the spring pressure curve up, but does not flatten out the overall boost curve. I'm sure this would occur at higher boost levels using E85, race gas, or WMI.

So in a nutshell, the torque curve was a function of the boost curve, which is dictated by manifold design, WG setup, etc.

That makes sense if he is getting boost creep. Did you record the boost curve? Can I see a plot?
