Ohh..one more thing. The raven black is a pain to take care of (as some others have mentioned) but if you bother to do it, you'll be turning heads everywhere you go. Its really worth it for me.

Get it. I love my little asphalt one, it's a blast to drive but fits a lot more inside of it than my old mx-5. Lots of people are still waiting for 86's they ordered months ago, so if you have a line on one don't wait. You won't regret it.
That's why didn't get a raven, but I agree it looks stunning when it's clean and waxed. |

Mine has been my DD for six months and 7000 miles now.
I love it. It's just what I wanted.

2600 miles and NO issues at all. I use the car as a DD. Averaging 30 mpg. Toyota and suparu reliability. Attractive car that is obviously fun to drive. You will not be disappointed.

I'm sure the car will last a while. It's a Toyota after all.
CEL issues pretty much happen once... and the issue should pretty much be fixed at this point. My car is a CEL survivor and my DD. So far that was the only issue and after a new ECU, everything was back to normal in about a week. It's a first gen car and it will have it's issues. If you can't deal with that, wait another year or two. So far, no real serious issues.

That's not bad compared to Subaru though, the Subaru dealerships I talked to said they had sold the entire allotment for the rest of the year already! This was in July! |

Go for it, CEL is not an issue for the ones being made now (from the sounds of it) and the chirp is really a non-issue, just an annoyance for most.

Any of your concerns are paid in full by Subaru to fix. Anyone I heard of from these forums and a personal friend got a rental car while their frs/brz was being fixed.

Bought mine to be mainly a track HPDE/track day car,...its such a riot to drive I have put way more mileage on it than expected,...it has almost turned into my daily driver as It seems I always end up grabbing the keys to the FRS over my normal daily driver.....Unlike all the hoopla you read with first year run problems,....Cels, tranny shifts,...tail light condensation,....etc.etc. I haven't had a single problem and I'm at 4k + mileage,....Don't expect plushness, or fit and finish of a German car,....this is an in-expensive sports car,...road noise, body panel gaps...etc.etc.

I just turned over 3000 miles today hooning the hell out of my car on a back road. If you buy any other car you are a doofus, this thing rocks.

1. I had an 08 tC that I traded in for the FRS that never had an issue although I only put 42k miles on it. Wouldn't expect there to be any major issues with the FRS. Service at my dealer is also pretty good. 2. Love the car. Best car that I've driven but I guess that doesn't mean much since I'm only 23. Went to get gas after work today and got about half a tank (waiting for payday 2morrow XD) and got a bit sidetracked. Ended up driving from Phoenix to Scottsdale to Avondale cus I didn't want to get out of the car. Came back and now I'm back at a quarter tank again lol. It's the first time in years that I've actually wanted to drive a car as opposed to riding my motorcycle everywhere. Actually haven't been on my bike since I bought the car and I just bought the bike (2012 zx6r) 2 weeks prior lol. |
