Seems to be extremely track dependent. Extremely tight and technical tracks seem to show the issue. There's not enough sample data yet to say that it's not car specific even. Also, current data is really showing that the PTU is the issue causing the shutdown instead of the RDU. PTU is cooled by the coolant. Coolant also cools the oil. Separating that stuff out will likely have a massive effect on how cool the PTU stays. Obviously it'll be driver dependent also. Someone could make it overheat by driving style faster than another driver. Guys here were even trying drift mode which puts the most power to the back of any of the mods and still didn't get the AWD off message. Some of the guys out west who had the issue put it in Sport instead of Track or Drift and had much better results.

Most of the cars being tracked have not had the issue, but like I said, the sample data set is *extremely* small right now.

And sadly a lot of owners with the cars don't track them and given the compared-to-an-accord limited production run (I laugh when people call this car limited production with thousands of units in the first year) I doubt the sample set will grow that significantly until next year.

Mine will be on track the first chance I get though. I bought it as a DD so the issue doesn't even concern me that much as I already own two dedicated track cars but it'll be nice to not have to deal with the truck and trailer every once in awhile.

Got my RS last night. Haven't beat on it much. First "mod" already done (in the last pic is the fake engine noise DSP - already removed).

Probably will have an Essex "BBK" (smaller than stock in this case) on it within a few weeks

Looking forward to driving impressions. I'm currently working with an RS owner who is trying to sell the exact same car. He has an opportunity to buy his dream car (a very clean NSX) and is trying to get rid of his RS w/ 2500 mi on the clock. Still asking for low-mid $40's though...

Mine is an RS2 with Forged wheels and Cup2's. I paid MSRP. ADM is bad enough, more than MSRP on a used car is just laughable IMO.

I've only driven it about 40 miles so far, so yeah, no real driving impressions so far. It feels like it's going to be a great car once I start playing around with it some. Steering is soooo much better than the terrible steering in the Focus ST, very happy about that.

Ah, didn't realize you had the Cup2's+wheels, the one I'm looking at is about as base as you can get. Agreed with the pricing, low $40's is way too much for a technically "used" car no matter how pristine it is. I'm trying to talk him down to MSRP or even slightly below, but the hype is strong in this one...

Yep, only takes about 30 seconds to remove though (open hatch, lift floor, unplug box (two plugs), remove box (no screws/clips/etc), lower floor and close hatch.

You can find them at MSRP new if you want to as well, just have to wait normally although I've found them on the lot for MSRP occasionally also... those tend to move fast. Found buyers for 2 like that in Florida so far.

Just over 300 miles now, hit full boost a few times but it's still not loosened up yet. Swapped wheels and tires to save the Cup2's and it's now FAR more livable as a DD. Those Cup2's are of course very loud and harsh. The 18" Continental whatevers I have on it now are super quiet and soft in comparison

Breaking it in with mixed driving and as fast as I can. I have an 11 day vacation coming up and a track day on 9/16 where I intend to drive it until AWD shuts down. 30 minutes at Sebring isn't doing it.. so I'll find out how long it will take

Mine was $41,550 + TTT so a base car should be $37k+ttt. Mine had just over $4k in options IIRC.

Good to hear about the improved steering. I test drove both the Focus and Fiesta STs at a Ford promotional autocross, and hated the steering on both. Total deal killer!

^ I sincerely hope that the Focus RS doesn't become the next Mustang.

Seriously! granted it was a relatively low speed impact but that safety cell looked rigid AF, looked like it had a roll cage!

I'd be totally into an RS. But I feel like I'd be just as satisfied with the ST, especially given the price. With it starting at 48k Canadian, I could stretch that budget a bit (about 15k) and get a higher mileage (100ishk KM) GTR. Or Cayman. Or 911 (maybe).

Don't get me wrong, I realize maintenance costs and insurance costs and such will be more than the RS. But it just kind of irks me to know I could have gotten a whole lot more car for just a bit more. Relatively, of course. The RS is practical af. im interested to see what used prices a year or two down the line are like. But I don't think I'd buy one new, purely because of the MSRP. Also very interested to hear what the long term reviews are like from people on here who have bought one.
